Im sure there is something somewhere in the laws that says you cant, but the bottom line is where I live it happens all the time and I see it every day...And youd be amazed at the crappy stamp jobs shops do but charge $250-500 labor...All crooked and butcherd up...

I even know of restamped bikes that have been confiscated by our auto squad, and given back to the owner after they looked it over...And obvious restamp jobs at that...

I still find it strange that with theft being such a big problem, you guys still dont have electronic ignitions...Here in Canada all Yamahas since 06 have chipped keys, ignitions and ECU"S... They all have to match or the bike wont start....And its either $2000 for a whole new set or you have to convert to a US ECU/and igniton....

So basically those 06+ Yamahas are worthless on the black market now, because it costs too much to clean them up...

Knowing about it is a good thing ..... You have to protect yourself, like I said Ive seen 1000RR's with F4i paperwork...You dont want to buy something like that and find that **** out later. So its good to know the difference between and OEM VIN and a restamp....Or if you see an Canadian R6 without a chipped key, well then thats gonna sound some alarms about the history of the bike..

Im not going to lie I know people that deal with that kind of stuff, but personally I prefer to keeps my stuff clean...Payed $7000 for my clean title stunt bike, and just bought an 09 from a dealer...

I wouldnt be surprized if some of the parts Ive bought on here or off Ebay were from stolen bikes thou, but you cant really do anything about that unless you can afford to buy everything new from a dealer...

I dont see anything wrong with this guy buying a salvage or rebuildable frame to replace his bent frame in NewZ...Thats what I would do anyways...

Yeah i was thinking that.

But i would have 4 grand to pimp out the F2

How much do you think it would cost to buy a 636 or F4i from the states and get it shipped down here??

Re: The choice

it doesnt cost much at all to get fully street legal on the motard, I did mine for less than $200. -minus the trail tech, which I got for about 90. I always ride to my spot.

yours is the 250x, like i said, i dont think its possible to do it with the R models, something about being made for DIRT USE ONLY, not DIRT AND ROAD USE ONLY like on the x's

What ya reacon about the F2 tho, 4k to pimp it out, that would be a pretty sick bike after all that money spent on it

You could buy a minty 05/06 F4i for probably 5g's max but you could pick up a stunter for around 3k. I mean you see the listings on here - 3k is pretty much average for a stunter F4i.

Re: The choice

Would going from a FI 600rr to a carb F2 really be as bad as OMR makes it out to be?

even a pimped out f2 is still an f2 you have ridden and stunted a fuel injected bike , i don't think you will be happy with a carburated bike , do you know any one with a stunt prepped carburated bike that you could try before you buy the f2

Re: The choice

well the F2 was orignally bought by my mate to turn into a stunt bike, ive stunted it before, it was super smooth, but useless for stoppies and burnouts, but with the 4k i was going to put a 636 front end or a 954 front end on it.

most carbed bikes don't pull on idle unless you turn the idle up to the roof and then they tend to run rich as hell and foul plugs on a regular basis , and they will usually over heat because you have the idle turned up so high ...

and they usually bog after a good stoppie because they are dumping fuel in the main jet when the bike is up ..

and never mind that fact that the f2 is an under powered over wieght dinosaur

Re: The choice

and the simple fact that the bike is old as hell means it could have a host of other problems that old bikes get like old hard brittle hoses and wire harness worn parts rust on a steel frame and other things i can't think of at the moment ...lol

and before any one comes in and says the f2 is an awesome bike i will admit yes it can be stunted and it was a good bike in it's day , alot of people stunted them but there are way better bikes now
