I just went out today after going +2 in the back and that made a good deal of difference. I love how the bike responds now. Who the hell needs to do 170mph anyway?

i have a 99 900rr..have 1 down 2 up...also sitting next to bike in garage is 1 down 7 up...dont need gearing...1 down 2 up on a 900 is fine...tj rocks circles on mine as good as his 750 2 down 10 up. granted he is very talented...im learning with this, more gearing also need to b that much better with throttle control, so def would suggest learning with like 1 down 2 up or so...and comes up nice too

here's a sprocket specialist 60 tooth on my 02 R1. (and for any R1 owners, you might want to note that 60 is TOO BIG unless you like the chain lightly rubbing the swingarm during riding. same may or may not apply to other bikes, swingarm clearance is something to think about ahead of time)

and for the dude w/ the 02 R1.. if you want to mess w/ your gearing, decide WHY you want to mess with it. the stock R1 will wheelie in every gear if you develop some good technique.. so the only reason to mess with gearing is really to affect how easily it will wheelie. i wouldn't do that to cover up bad technique, but if you want to do slow tricks or something, sure.
