???Bigger sprocket???
???Bigger sprocket???
My stock 05 R6 has a 48 tooth sprocket. If i get one with more teeth will it give me better wheelie control on slower speeds? will it make a big difference on the freeway? i dont mind loosing some top end.
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
some. you'll lose more the larger you go.

Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
You don't need to gear the r6, really if you aren't even catching idle yet.
I started with stock and now I have -2 in the front and it's fine for everything including circles.
Why?
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
ps. i could still get like 140 out of the bike with that gearing and at around 70mph i think my rpm's were around 8 or 9k. it wasnt bad but i wouldnt wanna run a long *** ride with it. no more than 30 mins or so gets annoying.
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
come on now big is awesome:YEAH I went from a 15 / 56 to a 15 / 62 and i love it in the lot and around town. It really helps me to not stall the bike at real slow speeds. **** i can bring it down to 2mph and not stall out. but i hate the highway it is not a friend of mine

Ya your right it does suck when the bike stalls. I guess I need to order a 58 tooth sprocket now!
Now Sponsor a Crash Dummy (ME) For your cage and subframe!
I crash a lot so I will be able to test the cage out properly!

Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
my r6 was my first bike and i only did street wheelies on it and it really befefited from some gearing. i went -1 +5 and it made the bike feel great, but i was already consistant and solid with bp and throttle control. it made it so much easier to clutch up highchairs, i only weigh 155lbs and in 2nd gear that bike was very hard to pull up sitting over the bars on stock gears.

Sorry I am just a squid I should stop giving advice. But I just don't think u need gearing when you are just learning? I didn't have any prob. on stock and now I have -2 in the front (14) and it's fine for me.
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
go bigg!!..i went from 52 on my yzf600r..to 60 now on my bandit1200.the bigger the better..not that rockn stock gearing isnt fine as well..just uping the rear up 10 teeth or so is way more fun(if u havnt got anywere far to go)
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
Im rockin a 67th on my 03 R6. and -1 in the front. **** comes up like it is nothing. Not to great for the highway though. Work and back it about as far as I go. That is about 7 minutes of hell on that bike. Killin the streets on it is fun as hell though.
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
well i def think that when starting you should go big nothing to big but def not stock i said this exact same thing in a streetability thread why do you think the pros that run stock gearing brag about it cause its harder go big
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
i have a 04 636 with stock gearing my bike did about 170mph now that same bike is now my stuntbike.i went 10 up on the rear sprocket now my bike tops out at 130mph so youll lose alot of top end and for slower wheelies it makes it alot e to clutch it up at slower speeds or at a stand still
Re: ???Bigger sprocket???
I think bigger can give an advantage especially to a beginner because your not having to be so drastic trying to get the bike up. Stock takes a lot more throttle input and throttle/brake control depending on riding style.
Even with that being said, take steps in learning things. Bigger sprocket will take less effort but because of the same resons- it will loop your *** easier.
