new 905 cages

so i got the new 905 design a few months ago.. not to happy about the right side cage breaking after maybe 3 drops on that side. the break is where the rear motor mount bolt goes through.. now the cage spreads and shifts around .... anyone out there having any of the same problems or could this just be a freak accident..? .. dont think its repairable because of the location of the break.. S.I. cages are my next buy.....:YEAH ... what yall think of 905..????

It's hard to say if it's a freak accident since we don't know how hard those "drops" were, but I've seen quite a few guys around here running 905 cages with no problems. It seems more guys like SI or TygerShark, but I've even seen a few SI's bend up.

drops werent hard at all.. and i was expecting some bending. common sense says something will happen .. just an unreparable break and it sucks.

SI cage bending up, and MOST 905 cages snapping is a BIG difference.

EVERY cage will bend. But they shouldn't just snap, especially at the welds, and especially not on light falls!

After you dropped it the first or second time did you check to make sure the bolts were tight? I HIGHLY doubt you did.

+1. Cages shouldn't snap.. when they do that means JUNK. And a lot of people have a huge misconception that cages are supposed to never bend. WRONG. They are there to protect your motor from falls, it's not supposed to protect your whole bike and it's not supposed to stay rock hard forever. That's why Tygershark has such a good design b/c they offer absorption when the bike contacts the ground.

Bottom line, 905 has been pretty much junk for a while. And since most companies have a patent on their designs, 905 can't even revamp their own let alone fine a quality welder!!

thats the joy of a SI cage

don't have to bring tools to the spot, and stop 40 times a day to tighten it.

Just ride all day, and tighten it when you get home!
