I can usually get two years outa my vortex sprocket. i've also had teeth break off but that was after the sprocket was past the point of no return, when the teeth are paper thin. Vortex has always done good by me.

 

Aluminum is fine if you maintain your chain properly..


Steel is for people that can't keep there chain properly tensioned, and don't regularly clean and lube there ****!

dont buy driven i keep up on maintence very well and it lasted bout 6 months

 

First sprocket I had was vortex. I lubed weekly, and chain got adjusted almost every other week when a new tire was put on. The teeth were bent and started breaking off after 6 months.

 

Scott which sprocket now you run? S.I? and you run steel or alu sprocket?

Had geared steel but SI now, I am in the steel all day camp. I also tried a tri-metal (aluminum inner with steel teeth) that I really liked. This debate has been had a hundred times before.
