Whats the concensus on 50s? did some riders learn stunts on a crf 50? and then move your tricks up to the big bikes? or just go right to it...

i got both at the same time. try **** on the little one, then get on the big bike and try it

pitbike, then motard and big bike...

the transition isn't as easy as one would think either.....

Two totally diff. deals all together IMO.

 

why waste time on the 50? try searching before you post too

I went 50 to 600rr to motard.

Learning brake control on the 50 was a good move, but if your planning on going to a fuel injected bike after it like i did, the choppy throttle hand you learn on the 50 isnt a good technique to use on the FI bikes, my old RR was jumpin all over the place the first week i was stunting it!!!

But yeah 50's are fun as hell, i kinda want one again, i would recomend learning on one!

 

I guess I'm just old school and learned on a liter bike... god the times have changed. I ve always thought 50's are for 10yr olds

 

Don't think just because it is a 50 that all wheelies and tricks will be easy to learn . A 50 has like 3hp and balance will be hard when riding slow too . Be prepared to be discourged and put in a lot of time on either bike .

I think people underestimate 50s.

There are so many "pros" out there that can't do much on a 50 but normal wheelies.

Learned to kill one of those in a summer, but I watch alot of guys struggle on them too.. alot of good riders too!
I also sold mine to a freind and can still pick it up whenever he comes to the lot and I'll learn a new trick or somin after not riding for a year! LOL

And +1 bigtime on the lumberjack throttle you get from the fiddy...

I could do circ combo's and all kinds of crap without ever touching the brake. It didn't do **** for learning brake control for me.. I had a clutch though on mine.......

Then my motard was just as easy after about a month of solid riding and getting used to the size, but the 600 can give me fits sometimes!! haha Especially if you are used to the singles and used to only maintaining it all with your right wrist for the most part, kinda like I would sort of imagine wide fast circ's to be on a big FI streetbike....
But honestly that's just pure speculation and fantasy at that point cuz I have no idea yet! LOL

 

i learned on a 929....no 50, quad, or dirt bike experience....needless to say i ripped many a pair of jeans. and a good amount of my knee and elbow skin.

 

i wouldnt know. i started stuntin big bikes long before i hopped on a 50. but the skills definitely didnt transfer over that way! i was dragging my feet on the ground on my 50 for like a week straight till i got bp. and i could ride idle on the big bike all day

 

i think its a totally different creature.. i had a fifty first to learn rear brake.. but my friend had a crf 70 which had way more of a big big feel i know it sounds stupid but for anyone that has rode one you know what i'm talkin about

 

dirtbike to quad to streetbike, back to dirtbikes again, 50's feels really tiny, I picked up a little 80 I play around on though, its pretty fun. feels weird at first cause its so small.
