xdl suggestions
Re: xdl suggestions
Overall, great job done by Thomas and the rest of the guys putting on the event. There is so much work that needs to go on behind the scenes to pull off something like this it is hard to imagine.
I would have to agree with bringing your own music. Kinda hard to monitor the local radio personality while doing everything else.
I would also have to agree with making sure there are food/drink vendors available. I know this is normally out of the scope of the event organization, but it is a necessity just like the port-a-johns.
Once again, great job overall. Turnout was really good, and the people I talked to on Friday night were just blown away by all the talent and the event setup. Apparently there was a brief snippit in the local paper a couple days prior, but not too much other publicity.
Great job to all those involved!

Re: xdl suggestions
Overall with the conditions that we were given the show ended up great at the end. After qualifying in a full downpour to empty bleachers it was nice to see the place fill up at the end of the night. Yes the music was ******* horrible!! And I believe music is a huge part of a event like this, you play some wack *** music and it ***** up the whole atmosphere. Some better music, food, merch and no rain woulda made the event top notch
Re: xdl suggestions
no we will not be blowing a damn horn all day long..riders should have a stopwatch attached to their bike, or practice 3 minutes, or pay attention to the flags
yeah i happened to hear that song too.. I think the radio station played it.. I am buying an extra ipod and putting decent music on it strictly to use at events this week... sorry, mikey usually comes through with music, but he was not there
sorry we didnt have any shirts, I have talked about it repeatedly..we usually have them in Long Beach every year, but yes.. having shirts and other xdl merch available is definately a place where we are slack.. unfortunately it is ultimately not my responsibility
I thought the crowds were cool... and all of the ideas that were mentioned like having girls at the track are great.. but we wanted to concentrate on doing the groundwork for the event itself and then next year we can expand it.. the city and everyone were happy, so now we can make it grow...
I didnt belly flop, i mouse trapped and fell to the side
all in all, thanks for saying hey to me, I hope you had fun.. I know I did, and i cant wait till next year!

i know for sure ill make the trip back out there between themoto gp race and xdl it was insane. ive beendown for 2 bike week's in daytona twice and it doesnt touch indy as far as a sportbike fan. glad you didnt take it as a rant or what not cuz it wasnt meant as that
and darius ******* smile more would ya
Re: xdl suggestions
I've been looking for XDL merch like all week...
make some shirts and stickers and stuff, and sell em on the XDL site!
the logo would make a sweet shirt, and metal makes the best music for stunt riding. people will buy that merch like crazy

Re: xdl suggestions
guy i was justing busting ***** back i mean cmon i called him butterbean, i had heard about the belly flop after talkin to darius for a while at the show.
if it comes off with a attitude im sorry its not meant that way at all, its not a rant either its there deal and im just someone who was there and observed some **** that if they want to sport to go mainstream then maybe they should clean up and try different stuff,
stuntlife is xdl's biggest advertiser and it shouldnt be they should be.
and my vagina is doing just fine i scored a sweet death squad shirt and its sopping it up nicely

I was miserably sick as a dog yesterday and misinterpreted about half of my conversations with everyone all day!! I was primed all damn day, and just ready to fire off....
I actually re-read what you wrote and initially all I read was
'I don't give a ****'...and everything after that was lost. It was just a simple joke from me that I thought you took wrong... it's all good...
Just one of those days I shoudla stayed in bed, and off of stuntlife...
I actually tugged my bike and trailer around with me all day and never even rode, if that tells ya anything.. Projectile puking kinda puts a damper on your practice sesh's.....

Re: xdl suggestions
I thought this was by far one of the best XDL events to date. THe thing that stood at the most was that the crowd was actually into it. Not to mention it was filled to capacity. Every event gets better and better. With the addition of the Aprillia Demo Team and new events it definately breaks the monotony of all sportbikes all the time. I like how we had a complete demo day too. Team runs made it fun for the riders and Im sure for the crowd as well. Good job Thomas, Randy, Steve, and Lucky. The event was sick. Definately made us feel like athletes.
And props to Thomas for going for it. **** he wasnt going to dissappoint and he went for the gold. Them ***** are hard to ride at first.

Re: xdl suggestions
Overall I would have to say this was the best XDL so far. As E-dub said, the add of the demos and Aprilla event was a great idea. It can only get better from here! :YEAH
Re: xdl suggestions
1.Go to your local "Chamber of Commerce". Let them know the benefits of having bike events in their area. Brings in people who will need food, gas, lodging, ETC.
2. Go to your local City Council meetings and let them know the need for a dedicated "Ride Park" for these kids to be able to practice stunt riding in a safer environment than one where grandma and grandpa can pull out in front of them.
3. Go to your local police station. Try to get a couple of good riders in your area to do a lilttlie stunt show for the police force, swat team, new recruits, whoever. Start building a positive relationship with them. See if local, state, or federal grants are available for these, much like they did with street racing to get the kids off the streets and onto the track
4.Write commentaries to your local paper in support of a dedicated place to ride.
5. Create a MySpace page SPECIFIC SPECIFIC to your area. Suport your local stunt riders and post all of their upcoming events in the area. Do a zip code search of your area and add people in your demographics. This will bring new people to the sport who have not seen it before. Soon your page will be the "go to" page for people in your area.Just make sure you keep the info current and updated. People will stop coming to your page if the info is outdated.
6. Get some local business sponsorship involved and go to the schools and do demos for the kids and have it as a "Safety" themed event, educating the kids on proper gear to wear when riding.
This should be a good start! Good luck and glad you love the sport as much as we do!
