Re: F4i Chain Tensioner

My stock F4i CCTL failed causeing the chain to loosen up break off the top chain guide and throw the valving timing off. Lucky for me the motor didnt eat a valve. Didnt fail until 50,000 miles though. I just put in the APE manual one. How are you guys locking these things I dont really trust it not to back out. thanks.

Re: F4i Chain Tensioner

What's the easiest way to change them? I had to tighten the top bolt on mine and it was damn near impossible to get a tool to it.

I'm not sure the easiest

I just pulled the gas tank (helps to remove the fuel line from the fuel rail) disconnected the injector and the other plug by the injector

and just reached in with my skinny hands!

It was a bitch and a half!

Re: F4i Chain Tensioner

bullshit 15 mins, with the motor out!

haha i bought an swivel head socket attachment, that made it easier. i wish i woulda taken the fuel rail off...my problem was gettin it tight enough, i wish i coulda put more torque on the hex bolts.

in all a lot of cussin and fingering got it done...never loosened or backed out

that was the only way I could do it, sticking my hand in there!

I just stuck my hand in to finger tigthen the bolts, then used a small allen wrench to tighten them down
