Headlight stolen now bike won't start?

06 F4i

Had cyclops headlight, had it in driveway and someone came along and cut the straps and wires and now bike won't start (don't have new headlight yet)
I have the tip over sensor bypassed, but was wondering if there was something else in the headlight that would be required to get it to start or if they effed some other part of the bike up.

Any help much appreciated, thanks in advance
-Travis

Re: Headlight stolen now bike won't start?

did they pull the whole headlight harness out

if so then yes they probably fucked up the wires that need to be jumped for the tip sensor. your tip sensor was jumped in the front harness and now needs to be done before the headlight harness

Im not for sure since I dont ride an F4i, but arent their tip over sensors in the front end(or is that 600rr)? Is it possible that it got disconnected when they were stealing the headlight?

You had the tip over sensor attached to the headlight?

I cannot get a decent picture of it, however it is just two connections that were cut I believe, the two that you splice into the headlight itself, one bunch has 4 individual wires the other bunch has two.

The tip over sensor is bypassed before the headlight and is still there and seems fine.

Ok, turn your key on and if you don't here the FI prime then it might be this. there's a little piece that sais 12v on it and when it's not connected the FI doesnt go on. if they cut that out i don't know how to get around it, but that might be your problem

uploading a pic now give me a minute...

OK i know it;s not the best pic, but there are four wires attached to it, try and match the colors and see if that's what missing

chk your power and grounds to see of they tried to rip it off the bike before cutting it. could have pulled the wires out of the harness. I have an f4i in my garage thats tore down right now but still starts. That plug with 4 wires(dont know what it goes to) but It will start with out it. do you know what he cut???

Did you check fuses? Don't know what they cut but if there were any hot wires they could have made a short with the knife and popped a fuse.
Always check the easy stuff first.

Re: Headlight stolen now bike won't start?

Ya fuses was first thing I checked, I'm assuming the FI prime is the sound you hear when you turn the key to the on position (but don't start it yet) I DO NOT hear that prime, however the wires connected to both the black pieces appear to be intact.

Re: Headlight stolen now bike won't start?

Kinda weird, I had the keys plugged in, and then was looking at the wires and when messing with them, I heard the (what I think is the) FI Prime. Don't know exactly what it was that made it sound, but it did it long after the keys were already in the on position.

Re: Headlight stolen now bike won't start?

Okay, got it figured out, the wires that connect to the headlight, I just splice them all together and the bike starts. So I'm assuming that the connection finished within the headlight when you hook all the wires up?? Anyway, thanks all for the quick responses!
