Re: 12 bar trend?

I learned scraping plastic

I think thats the way to go, because if you slam it back, the plastic will give, and allow you time to hit the brake and come back down..

I have an aftermarket fiberglass tail, and it managed to not snap EVER after 200-300 scrapes :YEAH
Cracked in a few places from gorilla scrapes, but never broke through :YEAH

my scrape video.. This is the first day I learned to CONTROL scrapes.. I had scraped before, but it was always just me going to far back on accident..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sucTCeLpJjY
go ahead and laugh at me for stalling my bike out. This was before I had the skills to cover the clutch. And the loud clanking sound is my plastics that are barely held on with zip ties slamming down..

Re: 12 bar trend?

J.... you jerk! I watched that video then somehow an hour and a half later!!! I'm watching other stupid youtube videos of some motard stunts! Thanks alot!!

I think I even commented on your circle vid about how many you turned there in 30 sec. It was like one less than D did in 1 minute. Now if you could keep up that pace, and I could just turn one on the stupid big bike! we'd both be killin it! LOL

I may even scrape my own bar down somemore after I go get the kid nyquil...

Re: 12 bar trend?

Like was mentioned before...its good for the sport!

But think about it like this: when you had a minty bike I bet you wish you put a cage on it (maybe you would have never started stunting without trashing it too???). I think the stuff makes the bike look mean! Plus it will help protect your investment. Heck ive got a 12 bar on my bke that is 100% unscraped.... but thats just because I put it on there last night with my new steel subframe for 350.00 (shoot me a PM if you want want for 350.00 plus shipping only for 04-05 gsxr), and because I was almost through my third 12 bar. I am hoping this one will stay on longer...stupid circles...gotta get them!

Re: 12 bar trend?

I really wish I had my round bar on yesterday... but I was too ready to go riding and ended up blowing out my tail because of it... Probably could have saved my upper too had the bar been up there.

Both very valid questions.

There is a pic of the accident in action... I would have hopefully been able to manage the scrape a little better and actually aimed where the the bike fell, instead of just letting go and having it hit the exhaust and spiral straight onto it's side. My tank got fucked up too. I pancaked my 636 and the only thing that survived was the frame... who does that?

And for the record, the round bar may have not allowed me to save anything, but in my mind it would have so that's what I'm going with. I also just noticed that you can see a piece of tail exploding up near my left knee haha

It just does, duh!

edit: but in all seriousness, didn't realize you were going slow neough to jump off.. So ya I can see how a round bar would have helped, cause you could have just held it on the bar.

I figured you looped at like 20, and figured the round bar woulda brought you down lol

re-edit: btw heres my loop

For anyone who thinks fiberglass plastics are junk, this did NOT break my tail! Just scraped down the tip of it
