We have a pile of 170's from some junk tire pile that we thought were 180s but didnt notice till we got home.. i know LT from squid wheelies runs one but i was just curious to see who else has run a smaller tire and what is the difference.. is it even noticable?

I'm not sure how outright different it truly feels to an average person, but I definitely could tell the difference. A 170 tire on your bike is going to be a less rounded profile. I found it harder to dip it in to turn going slow..... But I guess it could be learned.

I think the new Kawi 650 has a 170 or something small like that. I road my buddies girls and wow you can definately feel the difference. I felt like I was on a dirt bike and everytime I took a turn I wanted to stick my leg out.

I would think that they would sit a little more flat because it is not made for the wider rim but isnt it only 10 mm skinnier? i cant see that being that noticable. oh well i got a new 180 but i just wanted to get some info from people that have used them

Yes, they are more falt, and most people feel it. I would say if you're used to the 180, keep running them. No use in changing unnecessary variables.

If the difference is free vs $120 for a new tire, then it might be worth changing variables

I ran a 200/55-17 for the entire begining of summer! Just switched to a 190/60-17"!

Run what you got. IT might hurt you, but hell, if it's harder on the 170, and you get good on the 170, then when you switch back you'll be REAL good on the 180 :YEAH

My Ducati runs a 170 on the back...I don't stunt though, so I guess I wouldn't be able to say what kind of difference you would feel doing what you do...

i have ran 170's and 160's and i actually liked them alot for circles but they are kinda rare in the old tire pile so i run the 180's because they are the most common tire in the used tire pile...lol

Everyone jacks the 180's around here

everyone that doesn't even stunt, they just put them on, and do stand still burnouts in stupid places like my stunt spot!

All I can ever find are 170's, 190's, and 200's
