there is no such thing as a 1 way v alve for a hydrolic system cuz if u squeeze the brakes and it allows fluid to go thru and not go back it would just lock up the tire and stay locked up, i dunno what a y valve is but there is a brake line that splits into 2 for the front brakes

thats what i thought. more like when one line was applying preasure it wouldn't send it down the other line. I'm trying to avoid spending the money on a decent setup but it looks like thats what needs to be done.

ya bro u gotta spend the money for a rear hand brake set-up, the cheapest way is buy a junction valve(35 bucks) a 36 inch brake line (40) and a cbr1000rr master (prices vary) and make ur own thats all i did, if u wanna go fancy u can buy a dual caliper bracket and a gptech handbrake and fingerclutch combo but it'll cost a pretty penny

Re: Y valves for brakes lines?

you CANNOT use a Y valve for a handbrake setup, you must know how the inside of a rear master cylinder works to understand why.
the Y valve would allow back pressure from the foot brake to enter the handbrake, this is bad, because your reservoir is attached to this! and it would pressurize the reservoir! With handbrake setups today, you have a junction valve on the inlet of the rear master cylinder, the handbrake will cause pressure in the rear master cylinder, but the rear master cylinder will NOT cause back pressure to the handbrake, that is why you cannot use a Y valve.
