i cracked my frame the top side got pics on my myspace. just want some step/pics if possible on how to get this done. been told lots of no no on this subject. I want to plate it too. thanx for any help

ya i know but a strait frame on ebay is 1500 just to brake it again im all set

 

sum frames are aluminum which unless u have access to aluminum type welder then its pointless doing it with a small mig..also... if its a whole peice thats crack ur only going to be able to weld the outside of it and not the middle/inside of it...if u want a quick fix... jb weld the middle/inside then try and weld outside of the crack.... NOT PERMANEnt at all.

 

i would use the weld as a temp and still try to find a new one. the lack of worrying w/ the now one would almost b worth the price.

 

my frame is aluminum im going to a pro welder i just want the best way to do it so i can tell him how it should be done. i already showed him the frame he said he could do it but if i could get advice on somebody that has done it before it would help

 

that sounds like a good plan, he might know a basic way that will work (hence him being a PRO). but hey, even if it crackes again it still bought u more seat time

with a welder....

 

you can reinforce the frame with by welding a plate that covers the open space near the motor mount, if that is where yours cracked.

 

it cracked on the top of the frame about 4 inches below the intake tube. diffrent spot than i would expect

 

A guy who know's how to tig can get it done. No worries about the inside, middle, He'll most likely "bevel it", run a "root pass", the "lift to fill" then grind it back flat, it will leave a solid piece of metal, it be a process similar to pipe welding, and if the area around it is stressed they can cut it out and replace it with better aluminum........

Just make sure you take it to someone who knows what they're doing, the only problem is if he does your going to get taxed for his work......

 

give it to bmac and he ll take care of it..hes one of the best welder for stunt bike out there...actually he does alot of good **** with his weld skills.
