Re: zx6r cracked frame
My buddy had dimond plate plates welded to both sides of his f4i frame after it cracked. It looks pretty good and he hasn't had a problem with it yet.
But it is an f4i...................not a 636.

Re: zx6r cracked frame
i just welded my frame....
theres a special procedure for heat treating an welding.
jus so you know, as soon as your welder starts welding on it the material goes soft... an if the right procedures arent taken you will make your frame soft as butter....
what i did was weld up all my support bracing an gussets an then i checked the hardness an it was soft as possible on the barcol tool we have to test aluminum hardness. so i throu it in our heat treat ovens with the other product from our work... but i waited till the oven was max temp then tossed it in for two hours an took it out... because you can over heat treat your aluminum an it will be fucked, super soft. but my understanding the proper way to weld heat treated aluminum is to throw it in the oven for a quick cycle in heat treat oven an then weld then heat treat again... but im not sure of the times or temps of these cycles...
but my frame is about 70 percent hardness of what it should be....
right after welding it was about 3 percent of the hardness it is suppoised to be...
so jus be careful an make sure your welder knows what hes doin............

Re: zx6r cracked frame
bro i had a 99 zx6r that did the exact same thing i was doin and endo and pop it cracked all the way through i than welded it back together what u wanna do is weld the crack up first u gotta tig weld it because mig will weaken the surrounding metal than tig weld a plate over the crack. it should hold up just so long as u didnt crack it all the way through heres sum pix of what happened to mine
