Re: spray paint durability?

i spray paint my bikes and it works ok the problem is that it does not have any real hardener in it so its kinda week. if ur gona rattle can the bike use the clear coat with it it will last longer. and dont use rustoleum cause that **** never gets hard it stays rubbery i just painted my bike with it and i already rubbed the paint off were my knees hit

Re: spray paint durability?

I did it and it worked ok.

I wouldn't do it again though. I have a buddy who can spray it for cheap and it would look a lot better.
If you can, have the rattle can job cleared, then it would hold up better.

Re: spray paint durability?

My engine enamel has lasted for a year and not a problem. I did only one coat of clear to. It was really shitty. the paint was primer and about 5 coats of paint. Chips sorta easy, but does not rub off one bit.

sand it down good and make sure that you wipe it down with some wax and grease remover before you spray it

Re: spray paint durability?

All I do is spray bomb my ****

Mine isn't nothing special, everytime I've painted any of my bikes, its been a 1 day job.. Start early stripping it, sand it through the middle of the day, and primer/paint/clear at night, assemble the next day

Most recent spray bomb job, with $2 a can spray paint, and 99 cent a can clear coat!

Last paint job before that, using 500 degree 'grabber green' $5.99 a can, with 99 cent clear coat lol

Re: spray paint durability?

Btw if you don't think your fairings, or tank wont get hit while stunting, then you havne't been stunting long enough!

even with a cage, even when I had my SI cage, my side fairings still hit the ground, my tank still hits the ground, same with my tail, front fairing, handlebars, 12 bar, and front fender...

They 'HELP' so your **** wont hit he ground, but go flipping your bike, even at 10-15 mph, and all your **** will hit the ground with ease...

edit: this is the type of **** that happens on the daily.. sometimes its worse, sometimes its less

Either way, the front fairing, and side fairing smacked the ground and scratched the paint

I allways use rattle cans, and I don´t even use primer

Holds up fine for me and if you scratch it just paint it over

and btw Towlieee, I´ve crashed alot but my fairings and tank have never hit the ground, SI cage with sliders is the ****

Re: spray paint durability?

yeah i only use spray paint for all my stuff and it works great..... just depending on how long you want it to last... you can just spray it and it will last or you can primer spray and clear and it will LAST.....
