fz1 wheelies?

i have an 06 gen 2 fz1 and ive been following the and reading threads on here to help me pull it up but usually wen i dump the clutch itll pop a lil then the back tire will just peel. Every once in a while itll pop up a lil more but still the back tire peels. Suggestions? Oh im trining to learn with the stock sprocket set up first.

Re: fz1 wheelies?

Theres alot of different ways guys are out there gettin the front end in the air. Its all about preference , skill level, performance, and *****

To start off id just jump to the back passenger pegs standing up give it a little bounce and romp on the throttle and the front end should lift right up in the air dont need to clutch it unless your going 100mph or looking for some slow stuff for "lots".

Move your weight towards the back of your seat get up to the power band area of your bike pull in the clutch in with some higher revs then drop the clutch.

Theres alot of ways. Never road your kind of bike so if someone has reply how your doing it. Every bike is different. Every person is different. And everyones preference and opinion are different.

Try it all the ways and deside whats best for you!!

yep it's an inline 4 so it will be fine in a wheelie...

as far as the tire breaking loose make sure you don't have like 40 pounds of air in it and maybe just start your wheelie going just a little bit faster

Nice bikes for the highway and cruising, but I only did highspeed wheelies, no idea how one would do at slow speeds

Re: fz1 wheelies?

What kind of tire do you have? Do the FZs come with a super sport tire or a touring one? I would imagine you should still have plenty of grip either way. Try lowering your tire pressure a little, that should help.

It has a lot of power but it's not bad as long as you gotta silky smooth throttle hand.

Or if you're one of those people that hop on someones mint bike and turn the idle to 5 grand just to be able to do a slow wheelie on it lol

Re: fz1 wheelies?

When I say powerband Im speaking of where your bike has its most power in the RPMs. Some are better at mid range then others at high range in the RPMs.

Re: fz1 wheelies?

Fz1's were R1 motors toned down. That's how the Fz6's were(toned down r6) so they're inline 4's, its like they have a easy button.......

Re: fz1 wheelies?

Bad advice doesnt help anyone. Read your post, youre gonna get someone killed. You never mentioned the brake since youve prob never used it.
Just keep to yourself till you learn what youre talking about.

I didnt give advice because there are others more experienced than I So its not my place unless I see a dumb squid giving dangerous suggestions

Re: fz1 wheelies?

a dude on here named RIGHTEOUS1 or something along those lines has a fz1 and kills it. he even had a video of him making whoolies out in the grass, so youo should have no problem bringing it up on the pavement

and youngbuck... stop giving bad advice.
a. you should never leave the rear break uncovered when learning (or anytime for that matter)
b. you should always clutch it up

Yea, make sure you're not fighting the bike. I had a big problem with that for a while. I would let the clutch out and as soon as the front started coming up I would get stiff and end up pushing it back down. Ideally, you should come back with the bike keeping your arms pretty straight rather than leaning forward and bending your elbows. It's a pretty sickening feeling at first but once you get over that you can feel the wheelie a lot better this way, plus with you leaning back the BP will be a little bit lower compared to you leaning forward.

Re: fz1 wheelies?

Matter of fact, if you look at my avatar, that's exactly what I'm telling you NOT to do. Don't bend forward and try to look over the handlebars like that b/c once you get near the bp you're not going to be able to anyway. And you can't feel what the bike is doing as well b/c your arms are acting like shock absorbers and cause the bike and your upper body to move independently. If you lean back and keep your arms straight you move back and forth with the bike so you can feel it more.

Re: fz1 wheelies?

I didnt tell him how to wheelie or nor did I recommend him doing it the ways I said. I was only listing different was other guys doing it. I was only throwing options out there. Nor did I tell him or nor did I recommend a way for him to wooolie. Its all on him. I was only putting in my worthless on different ways to wheelie.

Happy riding and choose your style.
