Re: faring stay **** that!!!
eh... thats why you ship a batch....... 2-3 fairing stays and sub cages at a time. what are you doing with them now? spray paint?
I guess it doesnt matter, even for a stunt bike, it makes the product look like someone put some care into it... ATOWNS fairing stay that he whipped together for his bike looked like crap but after I blasted it and tossed a coat of black on it we were both amazed at how good it came out.

Re: faring stay **** that!!!
I design them from scratch, which takes about 2 weeks working 8 hours a day on them per bike. I do all the CAD designing, all my CNC guy does is cut them out... Then when I get the plate parts I have to de-burr every single ******* piece, which is about 30min of manual deburring per stay( I can onlyn do 4-5 stays in a whole day before I cant feel my fingers anymore)...Then I have to manually bend the tube, cut them and notch them, then I assemble the stays with the plate and tube parts, and drop them off for welding...When I get them back I have more cleaning and deburring to do...
So I personally spend about 2-3 hours on each stay, and my welder welds them in 5 min and my CNC guy cuts out a whole sheet of parts to make 50 stays in less then an hour....So NO other people dont do most of the work Besides the 5 min of welding Im the only one doing 2-3hours of manual labor on each stay....

Jeez.. I wasn't getting all serious about it lol.. I just thought it was funny that he specifically named one person that doesn't make them at all and another who has other people do some of the work

Out of curiosity, are you using a deburr tool? We use them here at my shop and they make it so quick and easy

Re: faring stay **** that!!!
Im just putting it out there, because it does rub me the worng way a little saying that I dont do much of the work. When in reality I work like a dog on each one, not to mention that when I do work on them its after work...So Ive already been working 8am-4pm on my day job, then 4pm- to sometimes as late and 1am making stays...There really is alot of manual labour invovled, and if I tryed to pay someone to do all of it the stays would cost twice as much...Im maxed out on my cost there isnt one thing in the whole process I can pay someone to do, without having to raise the price...I dont mind doing it in the winter but like this guy says my shop is about 1000000 degrees in the summer...And Id rather be out riding...

Yea, those are the ****. The ones we use here at the shop are gangster. I usually use them on plastic but had to do a bunch of aluminum the other day and was suprised at how good it worked.
