03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

Looken into getting a new kawi for strictly stunt and wondering what the comparison between the new 600 vs. the older 636 models. Ive read the lack of power low end doesnt compare to the older versions but im hoping to get some more insight.
I searched for a bit and found one small thread but no good info really.
If this already exists then...
thanks

Re: 03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

the 07 08 is not the best stunt bike out of the years you listed, because of the position of the motor mounts the frame is more likely to break on the 07 08 then the 03 04 05 06 and like you mentioned the 03 04 05 06 has a much better pull on idle ..

If its strickly stunt, don't get the 07/08 models. You can overcome the problems but why deal with it if you have the choice.

Re: 03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

i had both 03 636 and now 05 636

i loved the 03 but got a hella good deal on the 05 so i sold it.
im starting to like the 05 a little more but its still fresh and i have plenty of time to find out whats good and not good.
so far the 03 bottom end is a little better than the 05
had to gear the 05 a little more than the 03

hate the 05 tank
but 05 front end is gangsta for stoppies

How can you alter the low end? Other than gearing.

are you running the stock exhaust with the servo motor in full working order on the 05?

i was thinking the same thing cause the 05 06 seems to pull harder then the 03 04 as long as every thing in the exhaust is stock ...

it does pull harder, most ppl just dont have their bikes set up right. sportrider has the 03/04 dyno'd at 111 hp and 47ftlbs torque with the 05/06 at 113hp and 48ftlbs of torque. and thats why they added the exhaust valve in the 05/06 was to add backpressure downlow...

Re: 03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

i rode an 06 with waaaaaay less gear then my 03 and the thing pulled like a truck but then i rode one with the servo disconnected and it had that little stop thing hooked up and it didn't pull quite as hard as the one with stock exhaust

Re: 03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

ya it's like for the first second the engine brake is way way strong and then the next second it's just normal...kinda hard to get used to in slow circles

Re: 03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

All that really matters for me is how fast the idle recovers to where its set after you let off the brake. my 05 06 was strong but i never liked the tank, clutch, or secondary injection, the 07 08 was just inconsistent on coming up because of the way the clutch engaged t different rpm's, and the idle was WEAK. (-1+15), made tank circles harder to get in, I love my 03 now, best power of any bike ive owned before, its very raw which i like.
I understand setup is key, so maybe mine just wasnt right, but all i know is the 07 08 is the worst bike ive ever rode for stunting.

Re: 03-06 636 Vs. 07-08 ZX6R

pros and cons of both.. its personal prefferance.. if you really plan on wadding it a lot go with the 03, things a tank..

but once the really nasty part of the learning curve is over i think the 08 is a much cleaner powerband and way more nimble and light.. better for stoppies IMO also...
but again... personal prefferance...

wait until you see the 09s....

Any teasers for the 09's yet? Im in a jam right now....Ive been saving my cash to upgrade for next year and buy an 09 ZX6R, but now I might have just lined up a deal with a local Suzuki dealership...I did a show for their grand opening and now they want to get me on a GSXR!

**** man I love Kawi's but if this dealer is willing to set me up with an 08 GSXR, I dont think I can pass that up...
