leaving for china again!!
leaving for china again!!
lately lot of people have been asking about what i'm doing with all my spare time lol....here's a synopsis
last wed. i worked with the UW-Madison's physical therapy department and talked to their students about prosthetics and basically informed their students about how prosthetics work, what causes pain, and how to overcome the disadvantage of a prosthetic...
wed. night myself and joey b went to superior to participate in Amsoil's big convention thursday.....we got there at 3 am to the hotel and went to sleep
thurs. morning we went out to the truck to go over to the show and had a nice little surprise to start the trip out right, the passenger window of my truck was broken out, my garmin gps and my in dash dvd player was nicely ripped out of my dash.....best part is, the cops caught the guy, but not before he ditched all the stuff he stole, probably in lake superior.....fantastic, joe and i put a new junk yard window in in the hotel parking lot till midnight thurs. night lol.....i'd like to break the bastard's leg that broke into a car in a damned handicap stall.....rookie.
thurs. went well, we just sat next to mike laroco and signed autographs all day....pretty low key
friday we drove ALL day, starting at 5am, arriving in elliot lake, ontario at 6pm....with no radio, we scored big with a splitter at a gas station so we could both listen to an ipod, we could only both talk about ex girlfriends for only so long.....
saturday was a good day, 3 shows, both bikes needed new tires.....joe washed his bike and it wouldn't start, then it would, then it wouldn't, electrical night mare, so we worked on that till LATE.....
elliot lake ontario is a retirement community, we rode there last year, they actually shut the airport down and throw a drag race for the entire weekend.....it's sick.....either way, people remembered us from last year and they also remembered me having 2 real legs...i had an older lady insist on hugging me and said that i give her inspiration, because she's like 60, had a stroke, and has no balance, but wants to ride a bike, she has a 400cc road bike, but she took a riders ed. course and dumped the bike 6 times in the first 30 mins and gave up, she said after seeing me she wants to try it again....i told her this, "lady, i'm sorry, but i only lost a left leg, my balance wasn't affected, maybe you should try to ride a bicycle first" i still kinda have a hard time dealing with giving people advice.....i'm an odd duck, i'll be the first to admit it, i don't stunt ride to show off, i do it as a personal challenge, i try to show off in shows, "working" the crowd has always been hard for me.
sunday we rode till 3, joes bike ran all day, we killed it with a grand finale with the fmx freestyle guys....3pm we got on the road.....gas is expensive in canada, about 5.50 a gallon, so we were cutting it close to get back to the boarder for the land of cheap gas....ahhhhh we'll make it......well....as we were rolling up to the boarder check, my truck runs out of gas, we had a gas can in the back of the truck, but cars were honking at us and it was kinda irritating.....border patrol wasn't too happy about the situation either....they picked us to have a nice little time out so they could politely search my truck....i told them to be careful of the dvd player, it's imaginary
the boarder guy asked "did you blow all those tires up this weekend? stupid ***....no, we just threw tires split in half in the back of the truck for the **** of it to take to canada with us......
we had no problems getting into canada, but they hassled us going accross the border back home....wtf, like they aren't going to let us go back to our homes?? basically they just wanted to search my truck to make sure we weren't smuggling **** back home......good thing i sold almost all the shirts we brought into their country at the show lol
so back on the road we got.....we arrived home at 3am, today i'm tearing my bike down because tom. i have to be at the bus station at 3am to fly to hong kong to do a show for the ferrari owners club in Zhuhai, my favorite track in china by far......i'll be gone for a week riding wheelies in the foreign land!!! i'll post a bunch of pics when i get back...tony l will be coming along to make an enjoyable trip with his good ol buddy Ryan S!!
if anybody has an in dash dvd player, i would love to buy it off you! please email me at ryan@verticalmischief.com, the one at the bottom of lake superior isn't working so hot.

Re: leaving for china again!!
You do realize that a mainland Chinese person would be highly offended of you calling Hong Kong China! I only know because I do a lot of work with mainland China. I think I might have a DVD player if you wanna send me a pm.

...Good stuff
