tank dent probs

im workin on my first dent now, and in some areas its kinkin up... like a little area will be a 1/4" higher than surrounding areas..am i fucked on this? how can i remedy...thanks

After your done with the dent, sand and bondo. Then repeat the sanding and bondoing until you have somthing you like.

You do have to watch out because it will crack if your not carefull. Of the few tanks I've helped dent, the kinked areas that your talking about haven't really been fixed. I think bondo is your best bet after your done. But I'm no expert tank denter either so you may get better advise from others.

if you're careful in denting there will be no kinks to worry about.....a nice tank tent takes time and finesse.

hit the raised creases with a metal hammer to pound them down(like 20oz)

It didn't matter how carefull I was, I still got kinked areas in mine and my buddies tank.

i've used a couple methods.....

A: jump on it to get it started....heels in center of where your dent will be. finish it off with a rubber mallet and towel.

B: place half a phone book on top and do initial dent with that.....finish off with rubber mallet.

Sounds about right to me. I think I'm going with plan A on this next one.
I just don't hae the ***** to do it quite yet.

i started by jumpin on it, did some more hammerwork last night and about to go try and finish up the dent process before i get into the bondo.. let you know how it turns out..thanks
