Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
I'm fed up of riding back after a session only to have to stop by home depot, and buy 2 new xenon bulbs. I'm throwing all my money away buying incandescents!
So, after a few hours of research, these were the brightest I could find. $30 bucks a pop. But to never have to take my damn headlight off again... might be worth it.
Anyone have any experience with these?

6000k... 240 lumen... 38deg throw...
So, whatcha think?

Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
my wires kept popping out to. So I would ride with them out in the lot till time to go home which is like two blocks from my spot. My whole damn bulb assembly was missing. Anyways anyone know where to get that whole part. Thanks
Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
Just ordered 2 of the MR16's, and 1 of the MR11's. $83 bucks all said and done.
I know I could of just bought a DOT approved headlight like the UFO or the Cyclops... but I do like the look of the Diamond.
I'll let you guys know how it looks once the bulbs come in.
BTW, here's a vid I found on youtube comparing led's and halogens.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCc1JJYp6Cg
Keep in mind the CREE I ordered is brighter (by 60 lumens) than the one in the video. Now double that since I'll have 2 of those lamps in my headlight... now add another 80 lumen spotlight flood from the MR11 on the side.
I think this will actually look good on the street! Lol. I'm tired of lighting up the top of trees and overpasses too. I know people have to hate seeing my current bulbs at night head on.

Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
I've had the same acerbis for 2 years now, it spent over a year on my dirt bike, and its been on my f4i for nearly a year, and never burnt ONE bulb
I even run the 55w bulbs from home depot, like $12 for 3.. I've had a spare sitting around for 2 years lol

Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
the bulb that is on the side with the small running light, blew out in like a week of running it, i contacted acerbis about it and they gave me a run around and i couldn't order a new one, and the bulb has its own power and negative wire ******* soldered on there so i can't replace it.
Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
anyone ever have problems with the thing getting in the way when you turn? it seems like the back of the light assemby gets caught up on the open square on the front on the frame and i even sanded the part down and it still gets in the way anyone know if im doin someting wrong or if this is a common problem? thanks

I did the bracket so that I had room for all the cables and whatnot in front. Got all the room in the world there now =)
Can't find a descent picture of it... I'll take one tomorrow and throw it on here.
Either way, with LED's my problem "should" be over.

Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
i never blew mine yet..... but the ends got so corroded the pins fell out. i just bought 10 of the halogen ones for my bike on ebay for 20 bucks shipped...now i got many spares with no worries
Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
Does it affect LED's if you get their surface dirty, like real xenon's? Maybe you touched them with your fingers and made them burn that way. I'm just guessing though, as I have never tried these.

Re: Tired of popping Acerbis bulbs!
I love my new LED bulbs. All in all a little less bright than a pair of 50w xenon bulbs, but the color of the light is close to that of a HID, but with obviously less light output. They're super pure white. 7000k I believe.
They draw 7 watts which is like nothing. If I put my bike to "run" and listen to the fuel pump, I can click the lights on and off, and the fuel pump sounds exactly the same.
And now I can go practice, and see my way home too!
