tail saver mod

quick fix for no money. took longer than i thought it would though.

materials- 4 long wood screws(cut to length)
- small piece of (wood)trim
- 10" piece of wood (1 * 4)
- elmers wood glue
tools -screw gun
-saw
-two c-clamps
-drill bit(starter holes for screws)

......the rest is pretty self explanatory.

nice I thought about doing that but I just ended up fiberglassing the **** out of my tail when I had it off and so far it has held up fine. but it if cracks eventualy I am going to do that next or next tiem I take my tail off. I added a good 2 inches of fiberglass so my tail is solid as a rock and heavy as a rock to hah

it still will end up breaking if you use the sides of your tail (ss o's)ect. I only weigh 130 & I blow out tails. just ordered a si tail saver to be done with it.

i had wood in mine and alot of fiberglass and cloth and it still cracked over time

ive got my tail glassed on the inside with boat ressin and its solid as a rock and holding up great. Just makes the tail a bigger pain in the **** to take on and off.

It looks like a pipe bomb went off under my seat. Got about 100 ******* zip-ties holding the thing together

i have a tail saver i made similar to sicks.. but with 1/4" rather than 1/8" steel.. if anyone is interested ill sell it for 60 bucks.. PM me.

actually I wouldn't mind seeing a pic or two of one, maybe see how sick's mounts up too, so I can try to make one for myself. I'd like to try that....

Why not just glue it to the inside of the tail? and dont tell me you cant because mines been there for over a year.

I thought I wouldn't need anything like this for my SRAD since I'm not really stepping on much of the tail section at all but more so the seats. But...tonight I was practicing and my tail cracked...dammit.

Here's some pics from another guys bike on how it mounts...**** looks pretty solid. Wish I never sold my welding machine...
