does anyone else have the problem of there tank dent getn redented by there ***

i had a gangster dent, loved it, held me in perfect.
an now from learning those stall to frog to highchairs the dent got brought back like one an half inches!!!
waht the fuckk

how do i stop this hahahaha

 

Grip padding. takes some of the impact

 

Park ur bike in the garage and just look at it from time to time and your dent will never move. Works everytime.

 

Or get a Fat ***!

i think it will dent to a certain point, then stop. itll only go so far if you keep hitting it consistently at the same hardness

 

Bondo under paint will crack hella bad.....DynaGlass is hella stronger!

 

my dent is pretty decent so i wouldnt need much bondo.. never seen anyones crack before?!

 

the only time filler (bondo) will crack is if you slap a **** load in your tank. the maximum recommended thickness is 1/4". i work in a body shop i have filler in my tank no problems what so ever.

 

Or if the panel flexes.. IE what his problem is, since his tank is denting deeper!





I"d add fiberglass to it.. Strong as **** after about 7 layers, wont let your tank bend in any more..


I fiberglassed the back lip where I do froggers on my tank, because I didn't want to use ANY bondo back there because I knew froggers would destroy the bondo

Did about 12-15 layers on the back lip, then used a power sander to get it close, and hand sanded the rest of the way

Turned out strong as ****

 

bondo only cracks if it flexes/ takes HUGE HUGE HUGE impacts

Tank generally wont flex, unless of course it keeps denting like his is

 

damnit i didnt wanna have to do that but i guess i might have too.
how do you prep for that?
jus get rid of all paint on tank an jus start layn fiberglass or?!?!?!

especially the ones i messed up

 

Ya its really pretty easy


just get rid of the paint, scuff the tank with 60-100 grit paper, have ALL your supplies ready BEFORE you start

cut strips of fiberglass to fit the spot your gonna put it
Have DISPOSABLE mixing cups
box of latex gloves
and a board/cardboard to do it on and keep teh mess away
and disposable paint brushes (I use foam ones from walmart, $1.30 for a bag of like 12)

also do it outside as the fumes are BAD STUFF


What I do is mix my **** up, use a brush to brush some resin on the tank, lay down a layer of fiberglass, paint resin all over the fiberglass you laid down tell its SOAKED, then lay on another layer, paint it again tell its soaked, another layer, keep going tell you have like 6-8 layers, then use your fingers to push all the bubbles out

Let it dry 10-15 minutes, then add more layers if needed

then let it dry over night, sand the **** out if it, and you got something thats almost as hard as steel :YEAH

I used ZERO bondo in the back section of my tank, I dind't want any risk of it breaking out. All fiberglass in the rear section.

Also fiberglass works GREAT on the inside of your tail section. I laid down about 12-15 layers in the part where I step on my tail, and 4-5 layers in the sides of my tail for more strength.
Now my tail is ROCK HARD, perfect for SS's and jumping around :YEAH :YEAH

I zip tied a load of zip ties to my bars, incase I "break down"
Nah but for real, my upper was in 3 pieces and held together completely with zip ties. And EVERY TIME I drop my bike, like 10 zip ties break and my front end falls apart

I'm back to street fighter now though, so no need to carry 30 zip ties around


And btw YES, I really put all the time into my tank, and plastics with paint, then zip tie it together
