broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
probably used a mig and didn't add a plate , migs are strong for steel but suck for small aluminum pieces
a good tig weld and a plate will be stronger then stock

Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
and make sure you have the right filler rod. I broke a rearset on my 636, and whatever filler rod they used definately didnt like the shitty cast aluminum that the rearseat is made out of..... Nothing like going to tap the rear brake, and having the hole rearset drop to the ground.
Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
it would just be a piece of aluminum that you would weld to the back of the rearset to make it stronger , cut to fit what ever rear set ...
Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
I would buy those if I didnt have to buy two tires and a new brembo lever! Just dropped the rear set off at the welder, stuntin tonight!
Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
be careful on them after they get welded,,,,,after aluminum gets welded it become way more brittle.....save up and get some hoheys.......you'll love them
Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
true story... after my stocker broke twice, i bought hoheys.... beat the hell out of them ....for some reason my vortex pegs always seem to dig in a little bit...... and never had them show the slightest amount of bend
Re: broke a rear set clean off, weldable?
the fist day i got my f4i i broke the right rearset, had it welded and rode it all summer and it has been bent since then. the break has to be machined strait on cast because it is weak the weld has to penatrate in order for it to hold then its good as new
