636 sprocket gayness
636 sprocket gayness
so my bike has a one down up front from the guy i bought it from.... it was not so purdy when i bought it (the sprocket nut) an now its worse from me tryn to loosen it.... anyone else have problems getn this piece of garbage off? why couldnt they jus use a normal nut?an if my threads are all banged up anyone have a idea of how to get it off?
even with my issues.... 636 is still best bike ever.... hahahahaha:YEAH
Re: 636 sprocket gayness
it is easier to take it off with the chain on and have some one sit on the bike and hold the brake and if you have an impact gun it is even easier...
Re: 636 sprocket gayness
yeah bro what OMR said put the chain on in gear with some one on the bike and on the brake,
or if you look closely they fold that back flanged washer over the nut a little to keep it from backing off, fold that back a little and use a good impact gun,
i learned this lesson on my last 636, i beat the **** out of that thing, used a buddies impact gun from home....didnothing to the nut, took it to my hommies shop and used a real impact gun and it came right off.
ps...what wrong with 1 down in the front?
1 down in the front and 55 in the rear is golden!!!

Re: 636 sprocket gayness
Chain on, 2x4 through rim on top of swing arm. Start loosening when wood starts crunching use brake and have at it. I had to grind the socket down so it would grab better, edges on the opening were beveled.

hahaha
Re: 636 sprocket gayness
If the nut is stripped, your only chance could be a Dremel. I would keep it on though, if it is not worn too bad. However, if it is in bad shape, it will make your chain go bad quicker....
