Thinking about 98 F3...

I'm lookin at buy a 98 F3... I was wondering what you guys think i should offer for it and if its even a good idea.

-98 CBR600F3
-20,000 miles
-been laid down once, plastics are all messed up
-hasnt been ridden in months because of a "stater" issue *personally have never even heard of it... if you have any input there... i appreciate it. He says it wont hold a charge and will die while riding.
-new tires, chain and other small stuff...

im lookin to get a cage for it and gear it for now (if purchased) im not a stunter. nor do i claim to be one. but i can do 1st/2nd gear wheelies and short stoppies (like a typical straight line rider) I really just want something to mess around on.

Good idea or pass on it?

(as you can see... i dont make a habit of coming out and saying dumbass things having been a member since jul 07 and posted twice... so try not to yell at me)

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

Maybe he meant a stator issue, not a starter.

If the left side of the motor hit the ground hard enough it would crack the stator cover and not charge the battery.

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

you are probably correct. what should i offer him? i dont mind wrenching a bit on it (unless the stator is difficult to replace)

NADA low value is 2090 and average is 2745

KBB is 3595

KBB seems very high in this case to me... but niether of these sites allow you to input any additional info such as the mileage and the fact its been laid down...

in current condition, its worth about 1500. If it were running at time of sale, then 1800-2k

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

i dont want to scare him off with an offer of $1500... although that is what i think i should do. but he didnt "put it up for sale" ... i noticed it had been sitting for a long while, and decided to leave a note on it saying i was interested.

i was thinking just giving a solid offer of $1800-$2000 and not negotiating much...

how is this bike for stunting? (slowing down wheelies will be probably the first and only thing i work on for a while....)

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

I wouldnt go over 800 , if you pay over 1200 you are a moron, if the guy selling it thinks he can get more than 1500 he is out of his mind

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

Thanks... i think im going to offer him 1200 as is, 1500 if he fixes it...

something tells me he wont go for 800.

if i paid 2g's for an f4i i think it wouldnt have a clean title and i might have to pay shipping and whatnot... because i think the only place id find one for that cheap is on here.

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

clean title and salvage title doesnt mean too much on a stunter, or a motorcycle for that matter, totaling a bike is way too easy.

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

start low then offer more.
walk away for more then 1500 bucks.
not running, layed down, stator issues 1200 bucks.
show him cash ,he's retarded if he wont sell it for that.

Re: Thinking about 98 F3...

ppl always think their bikes are worth alot more than what they really are. that thing is 10 years old and beat up = not worth much, tops id give him 1000. cuz for 2500 u can get a pretty good f4i. i sold my ff 01 f4i in mint *** condition with a 1000rr front end on it for 2700. and just got my friend a hooked up f4i for 2500 with all sorts of stunt parts on it in minty condition.

11000 miles thats sh**it's still new imo.
get it and ride it. your dad will be satisfied with that. minty for 3500?
I got mine for 3300 1 owner 30000 miles mintyish 2 years ago.
fyi get new tires(qualifiers or pilots),chain and sprockets, don't trust old crap thats on there unless its a brand new minty chain.
I'll bet its a red bike..right? most 98's I see are still the stock honda red.

Got any pics of it? If its the black/red then its worth a hundred dollars more, only because that was the best oem paintjob ever on a bike.

an FI cage will be fine on an F3

No i dont have any pics of, but it is the black and red one, but the plastics are all going to come off... but because theyre trashed anyways, and i like the naked look better.

that cage will just bolt right up there? and how do i strip the plastics off, fit an acerbis headlight and get a speedo back on there? do i have to buy an aftermarket digital speedo?
