so you all know ive had my f4i for about 9 months.. maybe 10... i dunno...
an learned fast an loved riding that thing. never wanted to switch to a new bike. until nowwwwww! ive had the 636 for about a month an jus getn it set up finally. i still need a sprocket an to fine tune set up.
but i seshed it lastnight with basically stock gearing with the hohey four piston an triple with vortex clip ons.... i loveeeeee the set up an power the bike has! no more boggggggggg! havent dented the tank yet so there was alot i couldnt do... but.. fuckkkkkkkkkk.... ****.. bahhhhhhhhhh! i cant wait till its totally dialed in...

j-boogie, you helped me decide to keep the f4i for killn the combos...
but for all around i can totally already tell im gonna love this bike!!!!!!!

oh any one that has the 03-04 636.. i got some sorta "creak, pop, or crack" or whatever you wanna desribe it as... when i hit brakes or pop up wheelie.. sounds like bottom motor mount is loose... but i checked its all tight?!?! i have no ideA what it is... i checked frame an i see now cracks... anyone have any ideas?!?!?!

 

Check the tightness of both your triple bolts and your subframe. The cracks and pops tend to be from lose (tight but not tight enough) bolts on stress areas. I've had that problem a few times.

 

03-04 636 is the bestest bike in the whole wide world, because baby jesus told me so, and blessed it with great power

Its been 4.25-4.50 around the city. Biodiesel, brew your own for around 90-1.20 a gallon. I'm still waiting on parts to finish my station.

 

Yes i agree i love my 03-04 636 wouldnt ride anything else, i do get that cracking poping sound too when i apply the brakes hard, need to try to tighten everything up see if it fixes it.

 

steering stem bearings could need replaced or the stem nut on top triple not quite tight enough.

Your going to love that 636 for no throttle hand circles it pulls like a John Deer tractor! Trust me i would know i've drove a tractor alot more than a bike! Unfortinatly.....lol

 

I've had my 636 for about 2 years now and i've never gotten rid of that creeking sound but nothing bad has ever happend so i just make sure every thing is tight and ignore that sound! It's not your head set bearings i changed mine and it still makes that sound.

 

i have that creak......for me, its my forks. I can hit the front brakes and push the bike front/back and watch the legs walk around on the bottom of the fork tubes. They're gonna break and send me for a hell of a ride.

I wish i could find an 05/06 or 07/08 front end for a decent price.

mine does the crackn n poppin too. tightened to triple and still does it so.... i dunno. sounds like a fairly common occurance and afaik kawis are just noisy sumabitchs.
