spreader info ?
spreader info ?
i have been practicing spreaders for a few days.... i only get the bike up to a 45 degree angle and ride it out till i have no gear left..... i dont want to go any higher with out a hand brake.....i know you should have one if you put it at bp.....so what i am asking is , do i need a hand brake yet.... or should i just keep doing what i am doing and not try to put it at bp......
Re: spreader info ?
I learned spreaders last spring w/ no handbrake... and I'm SOOO GLAD that i did it that way. It taught me a shitload about engine brake and that will give you a ton more confidence and control once you finally do put a hb on.
Just turn the idle ALL the way down and keep the revs high. If you have decent gearing you can actually slow down and scrape w/ no hb.
This is just b4 I put my hb on...

And this is after... it just gives you more confidence, cause I hardly touch it doing spreaders or any other straight line combo for that matter. Just a tap here and there.

Re: spreader info ?
any thing above an idle wheelie requires no brake but like black03r1 said "better safe then sorry"
i learned with out one also but why not have it there just incase

Re: spreader info ?
learned without one.....but also learned on the highway too!
once I had the handbrake figured out it was cake in the lot to set it right on idle.....now if I can get myself to feather the clutch a smidge I could try dropping it into a circle!

Re: spreader info ?
Bring it up till the fairings block where you are going and thats somewhere around balance. The good thing about it is that the tach should be right infront of your face. Watch it and when the rpms stop climbing you are high enough, which is not balance point yet. So from there you can roll a BIT more and the rpms will drop and thats when you will get the floaty feeling. Dont be scared of it though cuz if you chop the gas at that point you will still come back down.
