636 dual caliper brackets finally

Alright I finally got it done. I made my own dual caliper brackets for the 636. You are able to run both stock calipers or a four piston caliper. Heres the deal. If you run the four piston caliper you have to massage or grind the caliper a little bit to get the best contact patch. and theres no other way around it period. the four piston caliper is to thick and will either hit the wheel or you wont get the best contact patch on the rotor. i will post up the pics i have taken to show how much contact i got and what i did to get it. If anyone is interested i will have them avaiable for 125. send me a pm with any questions.

Re: 636 dual caliper brackets finally

So lemme get this straight... you are using 100% of the f4i 4 piston caliper brake pad's contact patch?

Is the 125 shipped with the 4 piston bracket? Or can i use the ho-hey one that i have?

If you can get me this by the weekend, let me know, ill take one (ill pay a little extra for shipping if you can be SURE its here.

no! dont you see the top of the pads, its uses just as much as the hohey setup! its not possible to use all the pad, the rotor is not big enough why are you looking to buy this if you already have a hohey 4piston setup anyway? not hating just wonderin

Re: 636 dual caliper brackets finally

easy killa...I saw the picture. but the left one looked untouched, and i couldnt really tell on the right one. I didnt understand why you have to grind the caliper, and figured that by the sound of his description, that he is using more pad than hohey, and thats why the caliper had to be modded

Edit: and im running a hohey front caliper adapter, on a welded caliper bracket (2 stock 636 brackets welded together). and i dont really like the position of the hb caliper, so im lookign for an alternative. hohey brackets are pimp, but way expensive.

dont get me wrong im not trying to make money here.i just made one for my bikes and figured i'd help out other 636 riders. and my set up gets more contact patch then the hohey setup and if i remember right its cheaper. once again i'm not trying to make money here just trying to help out fellow 636 riders.

Re: 636 dual caliper brackets finally

I kind of wondered/am wondering why HoHey didn't make it so that the whole Honda pad made more contact on the 636 rotor... Is the caliper the issue?

I contacted hohey long before the honda adapter ever came out, asking if they would ever make a 636 dual caliper bracket with a front caliper setup, and they said they had absolutely no plans for it.

To me, it seems like they just kinda threw this adapter setup together real quick. Their original bracket im sure works great for the 2 stock 636 calipers, so the adapter was just an afterthought... thats my assumption anyway. I have one, and havent really had to chance to use it yet.

the bracket is good but 636 stock rear calipers flat out "suck" being mounted to that steel plate between the caliper n bracket they flex no matter what but with the 4piston setup the hb is money. i cant believe you have 1 n havent used it yet i think hohey should have skipped the 4piston 636 adapter all together n made a bracket that used honda breaks for hb n footbreak on the 636! then the whole stock 636 caliper issue is eliminated, but i think he didnt because he would have had a bunch of people pissed because they just bought the single piston set-ups

Re: 636 dual caliper brackets finally

i was just thinkin... i could use my hohey adapter on the 'front' mount on this bracket, and bolt one 4 piston to it, then us his, and grind down another 4 piston and use that for my hb. 8 pistons worth of HH pad fury. chewed up rotors, and flat spots on tires here we come!
