The cage cause it to brake ? or a very hard crash ?

If you weld it put another piece on the side or something, if you only weld the broken piece it wont be strong as it was, It was a one piece befor and the welding will marke this area weaker.

but sure he gut good deal with stunt gears.

yeahhhhhhh i suggest you to weld both of em just in case and you dont want go thru again to wait a day or two to have it weld. get each side done so you wouldnt have to worry abotu gettin it crack again.
