cant ride it out
So I started doing wheelies today on a gsxr6. Im having trouble riding it out. Towards the end of my session i was able to get up to say 11 o'clock, defently to the point where i felt like i was gonna tip back, but thats all i could do is get it to pop up. Bike came down as fast as it went up. I wasnt stagger stance, im 6'1" it felt to sketchy, so i just sat in the seat with my *** all the way back. Went 10-15mph and clutched around 11-12k. i tried to pay attention to my throttle hand to make sure i wasnt backen off, i dont think i was, when i came down my bike continued to gain speed, so idk. any ideas?

Re: cant ride it out
whew, 11 o'clock? you're way back there buddy.
Did you have anybody watching you do them? When you first start, what feels like nearly looping is actually only about a foot off the ground.

Re: cant ride it out
I was at it for most of the day, I filled up before I went to my spot then had to leave to go fill up again. Scared i was gonna blow the engine. I went thru the the falling back thing the whole niight, but towards the end I ask an onlooking kid (14 or so) where I was at, I prolly judged his arm wrong. I read the forums they all say start off about 15mph, so if im going 15mph and clutching at 12ish should I clutch at around 14 or so, like just keep revin higher till somethin works?
Re: cant ride it out
11-12 thousand rpm?!!! damn dude thats way to high for a gixxer. im surprised you aint looped it yet. 6-8k on a 600 is plenty enough to get to BP. if your coming down as fast as up then your either letting off the throttle or hittin rev limiter. are you 1st or 2nd gear?

Re: cant ride it out
pop it up and just hold the gas on until you feel the engine start to stutter, then your at balance point then start to work the throttle and rear brake. It helped me when i was startin out. You may be better off workin your way to balance point rather than tryin to hit it right off the clutch, especially if your not usin the rear brake. As you get higher and higher just start pushin the rear brake to bring you down instead of lettin off the gas. You also may want to turn your idle up a few g's. I also found it easier to learn the rear brake while in a staggard position. Good luck.
Re: cant ride it out
Bring a video camera next time and watch the tape to see where your at. If your gaining speed it means your not at bp yet. If your going to be in the lot, turn up your idle bring it up fast so you have more time and space to find bp.
Re: cant ride it out
i think the reason it's doing it is because he is holding it at a steady rpm and popping off the clutch instead of revving the bike and letting the clutch go... that would explain why it takes such high rpm to get it up and why it won't stay up.
Re: cant ride it out
holding the rpm steady was a problem of mine too. i learned to just barely pull in the clutch with one finger, give it juice, and just let the clutch go, all in one quick motion.

U DON'T NEED UR RPMS ANYWHERE NEAR THAT HIGH. MY IDLE IS AROUND 3GS AND I'M GUESSING I SLIP THE CLUTCH AT AROUND 6GS, AND SHE COMES RIGHT UP.
