Re: anyone use cheap fairings of ebay?

The ones that came for a customer's bike at my local bike shop were GARBAGE.

They actually felt like paper, and although they weren't brittle and quite bendy, they were weak as ****.

paint is nice though, and you can't argue with the price.

Re: anyone use cheap fairings of ebay?

Its like this... plastic is plastic... it will crack under abuse. ABS is good and im sure these fairings are made of equally strong plastic. Fiberglass is good, if you dont wreck your ****. Fiberglass will not crack.. it will bust to pieces. Both are easily repairable. for $500 a full set of bodywork is a deal. Try to get it unpainted if possible... stripping those decals and paint is going to blow *****.

Re: anyone use cheap fairings of ebay?

personally if I was in your situation I would definitely buy the ebay fairing set. I had a fiberglass upper, and sides on my f4i, and it looked horrible once it started to crack. Plus I paid about $450 for my full fairing set, and it already came painted, then I sold the lowers for $70. So unless your getting a really cheap/free paintjob, I'd say go with the ebay plastics.

E-Racings make good fairings that are very reasonably priced but you need to paint them.

Re: anyone use cheap fairings of ebay?

i heard e-racing is pretty good. auctmarts are popular with racers. u have to insulate them though, or they'll start to melt in certain spots. the guys at e-racing should sell the insulation, if not, ask them what kind to buy.

Re: anyone use cheap fairings of ebay?

the pvc ones are very brittle and the paint that came on them chipped very easy,

i had a telephonica set on a 929 a while back, one of the top sides fell off my back seat during installation and damn near broke in half

the tail fit fine, (had to drill my own holes in all of them), but the sides and upper i had to work some magic on, it wasnt perfect but not terrible either

never tried the ABS, they might be alot different

I know its not everyones cup of tea.. But if you have some time, and patients

you can get fiberglass fairings, ADD 3-4 layers of fiberglass to the back side, and they will be TUFF AS ****!

I just did my tail in fiberglass recently.. I went all out.. about 5 layers on the sides, with 15 layers in the middle where I stand!
**** is sooo strong.. It's never gonna break

Even if it DID break, I can always just slap some more resin on it, and put a couple more layers of glass on it

Re: anyone use cheap fairings of ebay?

I just put on a F4i set of plastics I got from Hong Kong...I compaired them to my F4i plastics and they are twice as thin and don't fit great..Some holes had to be drilled and they don't align no matter how much I tried to stretch the plastics...

In the end, you get what you pay for...I got a full set for 450 shipped so I can't complain...It's good from far and far from good but for that price I can't complain
