600rr

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be getting one very soon to use as my new stunt bike.

What are they like to live with? Are they weak or high maintainence? I know its a Honda, but its still basically a track bike with headlights.

Will it be able to take the abuse of stunting? someone on the UK section has done 5 motors, but people like teach seem to give their bike **** and not break too much.

I've got slow stuff down and most types of circles, but am currently learning spreader/hc/50/50 circles and drop my bike a fair bit, but I'm not bouncing it off the tarmac.

Re: 600rr

weak subframes, but if u dont run a 12 bar and just scrape the stock exaust u shouldnt have much of a problem. theyre a pain in the *** to work on as the ecu and wiring harness is all on top of the air box. denting the tank and melting the plastic cover can be a pain in the ***. its a very compact feeling bike and feels super easy to throw around. the idle pulls like **** compared to my 636 and the bike isnt very smooth as far as throttle input. the cages mount real low cuz of the motor mounts being so low which makes it easy to roll over, id recomend a tygershark for it.

Re: 600rr

I'm gonna scrape the exhaust, not really into scraping anyway.

I heard the tank was a pain to do, but apart from the subframe, they're not prone for blowing motors of cracking frames are they?

Re: 600rr

blew one motor in 2 years and it was my fault for not getting some metal peices out of it when i was working on the clutch or something...they are reliable for sure.

i found the power awesome as well as teh brakes and overall performance.

they tend to roll with a cage, but i never really broke pegs or anything....i'd get one in a heartbeat, i still have one of my argo bikes just for kicks...and maybe for track days!

do it! i got damien off the f4 easy and onto the RR and he loves it!

my boy had one with a powers cage ,after he got it he had droped a few times and the cage actually cracked the frame and and pushed threw the head of the engine stopping the cam shafts from spinning ,definitely go with a tigershark or an fi cage if u pick one up its the only thing that seems to hold up on them other then that i hear there awesome for everything but straight line combos and **** just my i wanted one for a while untill i jumped on the 636 wagon

!!THREAD DIGGING!!

I've ordered a S.I cage for it, so hopefully the three point system will spread the stress a little? Is the cage too tough for the frame?

Do you have to run an oil mod for it, or are they cool stock?

Re: 600rr

I also am about to start stunting an 05 600rr. Im removing the jardine that came on it for a stock exhaust. Is anyone running the SI roundbar on the 600rr and happy with it or is everyone scraping the exhaust? I just haven't learned this bike yet and dont want to slam back on the exhaust (tail) until i know i have control.

what's safer.. Coming back on the exhaust or the roundbar? Which will do the least amount of damage if i come back too hard?

Re: 600rr

weak subframe? ive had like 4 different 600rr's (04, 05, and 07 models) and never had a problem with the subframe breaking. the exhaust helps support it.

as far as working on them, theyre a pain in the ***.

have pancaked my bikes many times with the MXD 3 point cage and never broke or cracked a frame. only thing ive done is bend the cage up.

Re: 600rr

the exhuast is the way to go. i slammed pretty hard on it a few times its prety strong and with the sub and exhust kind of reinforce each other.

When you scrap the stock exhaust will it hit the tail or light or is the stock exhaust stick out enough to protect it?

I am also curious about the clean air mod for the 600rr... is it needed?

if you keep scraping, eventually youll start hittin the tail.

there is a perfect explanation with pictures how to dent the tank and the cover in the "bike pictures" section of Stuntlife....check 'em out, seems pretty easy!

yea its fine with just exhuast but if you go and put a round or a 12 bar on it i guaruntee you come back on it hard enough it snaps the subframe thats wat he was asking if it was supportive enough for a bar !

Re: 600rr

1. The subframe willl not break! the subframe on this bike is pretty solid all the way down to the frame. I had a powers stuntworks 12 bar on mine and gave it the business.

2. if you dont have a 12 bar, then you will definitely break the taillight, first time you scrape it, unless you're just doing a smooth brush or tip and go. but a 12 bar is not necessary.

3. The frame is tought, but I will get a proper 3 point cage.

4. if your getting an 03 04 model, replace your rear footpegs with 1000rr rear pegs, or 05-08 gsxr1000rr rear pegs, makes a world of difference that extra 1-2 inches of room you get.

5. rather than heating the tank cover to shape it, you can cut it out which holds you on the tank better.

6. after stunting the 600rr for a while, and you go back to an f4i, the f4i feels like a toy, low, and is almost too easy.

7. it just looks better stunting a bike like a 600rr or a 636 rather than the f4i. i think the f4i should be used to learn only then retired after you master it.

ummmm ive had 12 bars and round bars and STILL NEVER HAD A PROBLEM.

and OF COURSE if you "slam the hell out of it" it can snap the subframe BUT that goes for EVERY bike. so that really doesnt mean anything. ive found that the 600rr subframe is one of the strongest subframes out there because of the exhaust support. thats WITH or WITHOUT a round/12 bar
