06 636 Crank Case Question

I have an 06 636 i blew my engine this week on a stand up and ordered a new one... In pulling the old engine and examining the dammage the engine hydro locked on all of the oil that was in the air box from the crank case... If i do the kleen air mod and route the crank case breather to the reeds will this prevent the problem i had or am i perhaps creating another problem by doing this if i continue to stunt the bike?

Kleen-air mode, that's what the most 636 guys are doing to prevent the hydro-lock. But I have heard from some that it does no good.

You can re-route the crankcase vacuum directly to the valve cover instead of the airbox, but I would suggest changing your oil a lot more often if you choose to do so.

Re: 06 636 Crank Case Question

your engine wont blow just from doing a "stand up". i rode my 06 636 for 8 months everyday 10 mile combo wheelies on the highway all day all night with no kleen mod and never had any oil in my air box. you likely over filled the oil wayyyy too much for something like that to happen. these bikes should NOT be over filled. fill the oil to the top line on the siteglass where its supposed to be. i now have an 05 and i did the kleen mod on this one and i still dont get any oil burnin from the exhaust on the streets, only time it happens is if i leave it sitting on the exhaust for too long before i jump in from a stall.

Re: 06 636 Crank Case Question

kleen air mod works. I wheelied in a giant figure 8 around the warehouse for an hour straight to see how it held up. No problems at all. Research it and do it right!
