it is sketchy but just make sure you get a bill of sales so you can prove where you got it... or if you know the deal... you will just be taking a chance...if you know what i mean... i just bought a 03 f4i and a 04 zx 636 with no vins from a tow yard they were theft recoveries also...scratched off vins... but i got them for 2200 for the both of them are they are mint with low miles... you can get frame and titles for cheap... but you just have to be prepared with the money cause they move fast....

I really wouldnt deal with that stuff unless you had a crashed frame with title to transfer it to. Meaning take off the vin on the questionable bike then punch the numbers from the titled/crashed bike, to it. Otherwise if you put all your parts on that questionable frame (without stamping good numbers to it) and the cops happen to start asking questions, your bike is gone. Plain and simple.

very true... cause they will take it... i always wait till i get some type of title... they dont mess with me so bad cause i got a dealers license.... just make sure you get atleast a slavage title bro... so that way you can claim ownership...

I agree with 287, Contingency plan... cops want you to spend the night a few days while they sort out who's mom said you could stick your dick in the peanut butter. Bill of sale will not save your bike, but it will keep you out of jail and place the blame on someone else for selling it. Call the local PD and ask them about the situation. Im sure they will tell you your basically buying a piece of metal for your money. No title, No Vin, doesnt qualify as a frame. Keep it off the street and you should be ok.

I woudn't even bring it out the garage. Cops happen to come through your stunt spot and check everyones bike out, your screwed. There's goes all the goodies you put on that questionable frame. Nasty lesson learned. But, if you cleanly punch different numbers into that frame you should be golden. When I had two gsxr 600 01-03, one had a questionable frame and i was even considering punching my clean title to the other frame. Two bikes same vin #. As long as I kept both bikes I had paper work. But **** that, I dont even look at questionable/hot bikes any more. Too much drama.

i hear ya bro... it is a headache if you aint never dealt with one..cause they will impouind yeah in a heart beat.... i had a friend that punched clean number to a funny bike and had two bikes with the same vin.... he is still rocking that bitch till this day.... i thought he was crazy at first ... but he never has them in the same spot at one time.... that why i was trying to tell the guy who started the thread... if you have to ask questions or start a thread you probably should not mess with it.... cause i dont want his investment to be wasted or even worse go to jail for wanting to stunt.... i luv to stunt but not that much to go to jail. we all talk **** and say ftp.... but nobody really wants to deal with them ... it just sounds nice to say it

Re: buying frame with no vin?

dude you can find something else, its risky you can get away with it for a while but sooner or later the cops are gonna shake you for it, besides you dont wanna be stressed out everytime the cops come around. My friend did have 2 bikes with the same vin but he got rid of it quick because the cops always asked too many questions why where what ... Peace of Mind is better than nail biting, reports and explanations

Thanks for the replies! i think i'll stick clear. its just so damn tempting to get a frame for cheap, but i think i'll go a clean title route....

Re: buying frame with no vin?

that extra cash for a legit frame.. will give you that extra piece of mind..... its not worth it to have to worry all the time. cause you have a hot item. and cops will check you sooner or later.... wheather your in your garage or in a parking lot. **** happens
