Question 05 636 to stunt or not to stunt that is the question

Alright i just picked up a mint 05 636 with 2100 for 4K i couldn't pass up. the main reason i bought the bike was to stunt her but I'm having second thoughts after reading some post on here and other forums. i think i can handle a weak sub frame, I'll do some reinforcing and sub cage but i have read that the frame is cracking and the whole bike is weak. so this question goes out to all you 05 06 636 stunters out there. should i stunt her? how good is this bike is it really that weak or are the bikes just getting abused out there. cause some people seem to love them and then others are saying they are not a good stunt bike unless you really know what you are doing. how easy is it to crack these frames and has anyone had any problems with this bike. i would greatly appreciate any advice or tips on the 05 636 cause i really don't want to buy another bike. thanks guys

Re: 05 636 to stunt or not to stunt that is the question

ive never heard of a frame cracking problem on the 05/06. king tony had an issue with the motor mounts on his 07 but i believe he's also running a FI cage. ive had 2 and no problems what so ever running a SI cage. never any frame issues or subframe issues. i use the stock exhaust as my "12 bar". only issue i have with the bike is that the rims are very easy to bend. cut ur driver pegs down to where the peg feelers are and remove the feelers and you wont ever break your peg or rearsets. get a subcage with some esd pegs and u shouldnt have any issues unless you launch your bike into a wall.

Just go out and enjoy the bike. Its not a life decision. They made more than one of them.

I have to agree with TL MILLER cause I'd imagine Blue book on that bike is still like 6k. Could sell it for 6k then go scoop up a 03-04 636 or F4i for probably 3.5-4k. Then still have yourself 2-2.5k to use however you please.

if thats the pic i think it is, its from an 03/04 636 not the 05/06 which have different forks. and bill from fullthrottle provides a fix for the 03/04 fork problem anyways.

Re: 05 636 to stunt or not to stunt that is the question

the only reason 03 04 05 06 kawi frames break is because people don't tighten there motor mounts after a hard crash , your cage crushes a little bit when you crash hard and that make the motor mounts loose and the motor is most of the support for the frame..

The problem with the 07s are the motor mounts being way too long and thin. I think they will break no matter what cage you run, if your crashing.

Its too late for me. My frame is already cracked pretty bad. I nver thought about the cage being loose would cause the frame crack.

Lesson learned.
