Longer throttle cables??

If you want to get to the point of my thread then read the red below

I have a 2001 f4i with woodcraft clipons flipped and pushed out pretty close to straight.

My problem is if i route the cables through the right fork leg and around the front brake master then it will hit the bolt that holds the brake line on when i turn all the way right. Just touches it at full right extension. I would leave it alone but I am going to put on stainless lines and with 2 fittings and the double banjo bolt the line will hit much sooner and i wont be able to turn all the way.

If I route it straight out from under the tank to the clipon its not only looks like crap (this was how i ran it all last year) but when you turn the wheel all the way right it the throttle gets tense. Doesnt snap back like it should.

I tried to run it like that guy selling the black fightered f4i (sorta upside down) but that **** wasnt happening. Like the cables were too long to run it good that way.

SO....before i go to motionpro and get custom cables made up what other honda has longer cables? Maybe 2-3 inches longer than f4i cables. I seen nags just put on a 1000rr throttle and cables. Did that do the trick? If so how much longer than f4i are 1000rr cables..

sorry I can't help with this one... I'm going through the same thing with mine... DB make the throttle cables REALLY tight at full left...

Re: Longer throttle cables??

I got a set from convertibars.com for $50. They are 2 inches longer than stock and they have them for most bikes.

alright then atleast now I know those arent a possibility.

i'll email convertibars see what they got. their website wasnt telling specifics on cables, just that they had them.

Always got motionpro option as onewheelneal got them on his bike with good results...guy said 35-45 a cable + shipping. Just seeing the other alternatives out there before getting ones made up.

I always liked dealing with motion pro they are nice to talk to on the phone. Decent on prices and cables arrive quickly. On top of that they are always quality cables.

Re: Longer throttle cables??

well after looking at every page of "post your f4i pictures" i got some ideas and spend some more time messing around. i got the cables routed pretty good I think. But theres a problem with my throttle. Theres like some sort of ubstruction on the inside. When I slide it on the tube and tighted the 2 screws down it cant close all the way. Its like a factory ubstruction and I cant move it. I'm going to post pics tomorrow to see if any of you guys know what the hell it is because this probably doesnt make much sense.

There is a hole in your throttle tube, and your throttle assembly has a small metal pin that sticks out that has to go into the hole

Yep you are going to have to get your throttle where you want it line up the pin on your bars and drill a new hole in the bars. I suggest not trying to grind it off either its not fun having the throttle spin.

yea i was about to grind it down last night but figured it was best to hold off on that..I thought something was f*ed up with it.

I just peeped my stock clipons and there is a hole in them. The pin is like on an angle not straight up and down inside that throttle assembly. I like how I ran it a whole year all jacked up like I did

Well, time to bust out the drill.

i had cb599 cables on mine when i had mx bars, cost like $20 for both. i would'nt pay all that much for motion pro.

Re: Longer throttle cables??

neal i think i got em routed good now. it took me awhile to get it right but the answer was pretty simple once i figured it out. i had given up hope on making those cables work too, about 1 more day and i was ordering new cables. but my last, last, last ditch effort worked out. i was just blind i think. i drilled the hole in the tube also so now the throttle case actually completely screws tight together. thanks guys
