Subcages: Folded vs. solid

Looking to get a subcage but wasnt sure about the pegs. I like the look and larger surface area of solid pegs like SI, but I do have a half dozen stock pegs that I could use. Anyone have opinions on folded pegs vs. solid ?? Advantages/Disadvantages? Does OMR use stock pegs??

personally, i would run and will be running, the foldable pegs using the esd pegs. best of both worlds, u have a large round peg thats stronger than stock with the option of folding them up so u dont get impaled in the back from flipping a stoppie. OMR uses stock pegs and rotates em forward so they cant fold up when in a wheelie.

S.I SUB CAGES HAVE FOLDING PEGS ..I ONLY SEEN THEM ON BIKES WITH SOLID PEGS. THEY WHERE SAYING R6 SUBFRAMES ARE WEAK AND NOT TO GET A SUBFRAME CAGE CAUSE ITS JUST GONNA SNAP IT

Re: Subcages: Folded vs. solid

I run solid pegs... nice to know they won't fold up on you when jumping on them... But I don't clutch from the side yet... only spot I could see a disadvantage. As far as flipping a stoppie.. I've always gotten hit with the back seat..lol 12 bar will hurt worse than pegs.
If you go S.I. get the adapters and the solid pegs and make your own decision..

Yes you can get folding pegs.. uses stock peg with an adapter... just not very common... R6 subs are weak but a subcage and other reinforcement will help it or build a custom.. or hit me up I got some for sale..

Re: Subcages: Folded vs. solid

Scott on here completely wadded his subframe when he lowsided a circle because he was running a subcage without folding pegs. I'd get folding pegs for sure.

I've trashed an f4i subframe from fast circle lowsides.... it will twist the entire sub and break the horizontal brace that the rear tank bolts up to and the round brace that the stock under tail rests on.

Fold up pegs on a SI subcage is the ****... you can rotate the pegs to any angle that you like and you can also tighten the peg bolt so they don't fold up as easy (or by accident).

+1000 on what you said
and i also run the esd rear folding pegs on my omr... i love em ...cost about 65 bucks but you get the security of round pegs and the safety/versitility of folding pegs.... i've also seen some guys clutch up from the side and forget about the solid non folding pegs... and it is kinda ugly when it hits your leg ... at least if you forget with folding pegs it will fold in when it hits your leg. saftey first

Re: Subcages: Folded vs. solid

solid peg subcages are made with solid pegs because they are easier to make not because they are better ...

the added leverage of a solid peg subcage will do more damage then good because they don't fold in a crash.....

folding peg subcages are the way to go....

omr subcages are the original folding peg subcage and i rotate the peg mount forward on it's axis so the peg doesn't fold up by mistake and this also puts your foot on the grippy part of the peg...

also the cross bar on a subcage ties both sides of the subframe together which actually stiffens the subframe...
