help...636 tapping

I bought a 2003 636 and when it starts up you can hear the valves tapping. It has about 12x miles and has never been down. Is it common to hear a tapping (valves?) when it starts till it warms up?

Re: help...636 tapping

It scares me when I hear my friends 636. MY F4i is quiet has hell. If your not ready to have someone checkout/ reshim then make sure you have plenty of fresh oil in there,

Re: help...636 tapping

My friends 03 636 had that same tapping noise when it had only 8000 miles. He took it to the shop and had the valves adjusted and then it stopped. I think it was like 125 bucks. This must be a common problem cause my 04 with 12000 miles is starting to do the same thing.

Re: help...636 tapping

it is kinda loud at idle and low rpms. the clicking seems to blend in at higher revs and seems to diminish as it warms up.
