did my first wheelies

well did about 7- 8 wheeliez the other day. i was with my buddies and well we where on a road that the speed limit is aroud 50. so i couldnt do 15 mph on it.. so insted i went around 40- 45 and put the bike in second gear and popped it up.. every time i bring it a lil farther.. next is using the clutch. you think i can clutch it in 2nd around 30 mph? i can clutch it in 2nd gear around 20 mph? stock gears?

Re: did my first wheelies

Of course. Any bike can wheelie, if you know what your doing. As far as riding on the streets, not so good. Try taking it to a lot somewhere, cause if your barely learning how to wheelie, you have a very high risk if falling/crashing etc. etc......

As always, just my 2 cents

Re: did my first wheelies

i would learn to wheelie properly with the clutch instead of forming bad habits by powering it up. if i were you id throw a cage on, find a nice lot, and clutch it up in 1st X 1,000,000,000,000

keep practicing, stay safe, and get ready for your bike to get fucked up

Re: did my first wheelies

get a cage and go to a parking lot, and practice using the clutch while staying under 20 or so...

Re: did my first wheelies

You have acheived BP when the bike is neither slowing down or speeding up. Just maintaining a constant speed.....

+1 to the clutching it up. Power wheelies will just hurt you in the end, cause it's hard to gauge when your gonna hit the power band of that gear. Unlike clutching, you can control for the most part where you want the bike to be once it's performed......

Re: did my first wheelies

im just scared when i clutch it of it flipping over on me.. and i was wonderin. i tryed the left foot on the rear peg and the right on the break.. it kinda wanted to move to the side.. is that because i dont have even weight on each peg?

Re: did my first wheelies

It's common when your startin out. It's hard to know what side the bike is going to lean once your up on one. Just takes practice mang. Once you get it up, you have to shift your body weight to counteract what the bike is doing:

If it's starting to lean left, lean right, and vice versa for the other side. But I can only explain it to you. you wont truly understand me until your at that point.......

Re: did my first wheelies

When I first started practicing slows I clutched it in 2nd at 10mph but I bounced it also. I wouldn't really suggest practicing off the bat at low speeds in second though...unless you already have rear brake control. Cause you won't have any engine braking at all to save you if you can't hit the rear brake.

Re: did my first wheelies

GixxerNoob. Please Cover the brake and work on body postion. When I started staggard stance the bike felt like it was going to come out from under me. After a few hours it felt natural. Just please cover, and learn the rear brake for wheelies. If you do not you will either crash or never learn.

it's not harder to power it up, more like the ground is harder when you hit it. straight up! power wheelies are dangerous unless you really know what your do'in. stick to using the clutch, and take it slow. keep practicing and just take small steps, you'll be there in no time.

i would say stay in the lot, but right now there's prob not a lot big enough for ya,

if you haven't used the clutch yet, clutch it in second gear, not first.
