What should I do ?
What should I do ?
Ok I'm 17 & want to get my first sportbike I have rode dirtbikes all my life so I have some experience on bikes. My question is should I try and find a used bike that I like or buy a wrecked bike that has a bit of cosmetic damage and fix it up. Just looking for some input on what I should do.
Re: What should I do ?
Welcome! I would recomend getting something already beat up a little, and don't worry about fixing it up. Make sure it is mechanically sound, and leave it at that. Get the basics down first, then worry about what it looks like. Good luck!

You are so dead, LOL, do not buy a streetbike at your age man. If I had a bike when I was 17 I would be dead. I am lucky I'm not dead now, haha. If you really are gonna get one I would say to buy a wrecked one and get it back on the road. You can have an 03+ bike back on the road for lik $3000. Good Luck.

just look around....a bike will catch your eye soon enough and if its a good deal and good mechanically, jump on it

I moved from dirt bikes to road bikes. started with a $2000 f4 and liked it alot...put it down once on the road....then once I decided this was for me I stunted the f4 and bought my R1 for the shiny road bike...

still, it depends on the individual. honestly, if i'd bought a bike at 18 i'd most likely be dead right now.
Yep. Its kinda like my friend and myself. I' grew up driving my uncle's 450hp Skylark. Its what I learned to drive in. I've driven multiple 500hp cars. Im talking about drifting in them, racing at tracks, etc. Needless to say, I have lots of experience behind high hp street beast. My friend inherited a bunch of money and dumps $50k into a brand new 07 Mustang GT. Well, it didnt last a week be fore he put into a ditch bc he lost control.
Apply that to motorcycles. Some people know that abilities and ride within them. Some people (Squids) ride outside of there abilities and eat chit. You'll survive a 100mph crash in a car b4 you will on a bike. (Usually) Just dont do stupid stuff and ALWAYS be on the lookout for idiot drivers. Always drive defensively, not offensively. Its usually not yourself you have to worry about. Its other drivers. Look at what happened to Ryan S. He is lucky it wasnt worse than that.
Myself, I dont own a bike yet, but grew up on dirtbikes. (11 years experience of riding almost everyday) Streetbikes are a different story. Im getting an F4i within 2 months. Im lookin for something to learn on. After I get experienced, I'll probably get a 636 and stunt the f4i.

+1
dont compare cars to motorcycles, you have a metal cage protecting you from your stupid mistakes... on a motorcycle you have your bone and skin to protect you, and trust me and many others... it doesnt provide much protection
heres a tip to avoid alot of hate and to avoid being put on numerous ignore lists.... dont give advice on stunting if you cant stunt better then the person asking the advice / dont know what your talking about (i.e. dont give advice on hadnbrakes, 12 bars, cages especially if you dont have one or dont know how to use them / it) second dont give advice if you DONT EVEN OWN A ******* MOTORCYCLE
