Seat hole cut... now what?

Hey guys... I got my passengar seat hole cut out all nice and neat except for the vinyl on top... now what???

I was wondering what you guys are doing out there to keep it looking pimp without just using duct tape or leaving the vinyl flopping in the breeze. I am trying to avoid the just slapped together **** box feel you see in alot of stuntbike builds, plus I want it to work well and for it to last as long as possible.

I thought about cutting an x with a little vertical line in the middle so that I could just box/fold it to the inside and staple it around the edge like you would normally think is what you would do.. but my question is.... What keeps it from ripping along that x more and causing a big tear? And Is that "x with a line" the right shape of the cut or do you do an "H"?

A good friend of mine was saying maybe to make your cut like an upside down T , with the top of the T being where you would stand, and use big pieces of elastic on the inside of the vinyl to give it the appearance of being normal until your toe pushed it's way into the void and the elastic stretched out and then returned to it's normal look whenever your toe is removed... Bitchen idea, but I don't want my foot to get hung up in the elastic like I see happening..... and again what is to keep the top of the "T" from ripping all the way up to the front of the seat??

And if this doesn't work with the elastic then I've messed up the X-cut and staple it back down idea... my cut is clean, the foam is cut clean, my hole is a perfect rectangular square shape, and it would look really good if I could just make the inside edges look like the outside edges of my seat..... all would be good.

PIcs would be nice... and I don't mind a good plug as long as it has pictures so I can steal the idea and make my own.. LOL But please don't try to sell me some expensive aftermarket rear seat with a hole in it that's been professionally upholstered.... unless it's ooooohhhhh around $25.(cost of a new stock one on ebay.....)

Thanks all...
And I'm sorry if this has been covered already, but with the new gen. bikes and how everyone is getting nicer and nicer with their stuff I didn't want outdated info for my modern bike....

Re: Seat hole cut... now what?

cut an "X" into the fabric then use a staple gun to staple it to the plastic underneath.

Re: Seat hole cut... now what?

i cut it in an x and hot glue the flaps down......works good, the best way is to take it to a custom place that can sew it together for you.
