Re: JB is the man, stunting on the cover of 2wt

ok.. you have been a stunter for years and you have a few peers who have been in the struggle with you.. all wanting to build a sport out of nothing..

you get to host a TV show that features stunting... do you?

A) let the show follow you around to all your paying shows making it appear that you are the one and only stunter in the world

or

B) go cover some comps and show the world that this is a competitive sport and has a lot of talent and claim your spot as an OG

then, because you have said show, you get to edit a magazine.. now as the editor, do you?

A) put yourself doing some 1996 stunts on the cover and in the mag constantly... making the world think that you are the one and only best pro stunter.

or

B) Shine some light on everyone, earning respect and still keeping your OG status... oh and not losing a dime by the way...

its not about money at all.. that was just an example that everyone can relate to

the beef is that jason is in a position to help grow a sport and he does nothing but promote himself the whole time

whats the use of being a king when theres no kingdom to rule?

most people unfortunatly only think about filling they're tummy's for today and forget they also need to eat tomorrow!!! ur on the right track from wat i can see thomas, so keep doin ur thing!!!!! just 1 last thing, respect from peers is important but respect dont put food on the table and those same peers put in the same situations might chose food over respect, so just keep that i mind.....sometimes u have to be a shark in a shark tank cuz the fish get eaten!!! and i dont mean step on toes like jason is doin but.........u get my point im sure!!!

Not much has changed on old stuntlife in the 5 month vacation i took from it. I didn't think i'd see people hate on Britton though. If alot of you actually went out and rode instead of posting 25,000 posts on stuntlife you might have your own show too. Another big problem with this sport is we are all a bunch of ******* bitches. Anyone who makes it instantly gets slammed by everyone else because they are doing their thing and making it happen for themselfs and everyone else bitches and complains. You get a big show, maybe make it on tv or something your the ******* hero of the day. You wont sit there and complain to yourself that you didn't share your pie with all your friends yet when the next guy does the same thing all of a sudden he is the bad guy. Pull out your damn tampon and actually go out and do something for YOURSELF instead of waiting for a hand out from someone else !

The problem with the sponsorship issue you just addressed is yeah they are looking at only very few riders cause most the people that make the decisions only know a few things about the sport. They know the top 5-10 people that theyve seen throughout the channels or whatnot, but not "johnny come do switchback no handed highchairs from bumfuct TN".

I think the issue isnt keeping the whole pie its not helping out the people around you. What has more power, a governing body of people that have been together for years, or one man standing alone?

but no.. he wants to be the godfather of nothing..

whats the point of being a millionaire if you cant spend the money..

If stuntriding doesnt grow into a large scale competitive sport then jason loses relevance.. If we do grow large then he has huge relevance as one of the OG's...

so he should be doing what he can to help it grow by introducing the good comps and more riders... if not for nothing except to help himself out in the long run
+1 agreeing with Thomas. holy cow it's a new thing.

A lot of people are doing that, and I see your point. (ow my eyes!)

For some of the old school riders who brought this sport up from the streets, the newer opportunities are going to pass them by and go to newer riders, with newer tricks. The old school may feel displaced but if they try to stay on top and keep a lid on the new guys it stalls out progress.

for everyone.

+1 amen brother...JB is doing his job and doing it well. He is providing for is family and promoting the sport with his show. He also is a very nice guy, I speak with him on a regular basis and he always takes time out of his busy schedule to talk to me, give tips and pointers, or just shoot the ****. He is a sucessful person...how does that make him bad in everyone's eyes. I guess if he tried to act like a thug and not promote himself and just show up to comps. whenever he feels like, he would be awesome in some of these dumbass's eyes.

i think alot of people are missing the point to all of this...

i don't think anyone can fault another person for wanting to be successful, being successful...and honestly, i don't see that happening here...

but...

i do think it is highly suspect when the editor of a magazine...any magazine...uses that position to prop themselves up even more than they already are...it falls along the lines of a major conflict of interest...and it probably hurts the magazine more in the long run than helps it...think about it like this...

JB is the editor for 2WT...he pastes himself all over the mag, all of his sponsors, videos, anything JB related get good reviews and press, while the rest of the industry either gets a blind eye turned towards it or bashed...

sooner or later, it will become harder for 2WT to get products for review or content for articles...then it will get harder for readers to not look at it as a monthly JB catalog...then subscriptions lag, magazine sales lag...and the final result is that the mag gets pulled, giving us all one less avenue to show what we are about....

all because JB did not want anyone else to get shine...

the old school "do for self" attitude will do more harm than good overall to the sport...and alot of people who have put in some serious time, effort, and energy to make things happen do tend to get upset and protective when they see their work threatened, in one way, shape, form or another...

"chop off the hands of those that would stab you in the back, and celebrate those who would ride alongside you in hell."

my two pennies on the whole matter...

i think you really missed the point anyone and everyone waS Making here.

no one is saying that he isnt a good person, this whole thing about JB this month is about his buisness ethic.. and his motives, not about him being the devil etc.

i think you need to go back and re-read the threads(both of em). sure some guys may have had a personal run in with the guy that didnt end well, but that is their own personal experience, that doesnt say **** about his personal character being that way permanently to everyone. it just has to deal with him advancing in his career off of certain people that way.

i'm pretty sure he is killer to hang out with, and have a brew, talk about life **** whatever else you wanna say about him... and we all know he is probably doing right by his wife daily.... but if you have something that he thinks he can use to his advantage in the stunt game, he may just see you as a target... thats what is being said.

se the difference between buisness life, and personal life??? that is what is being discussed, dunno if you can see that.

i wouldnt say all that....

My personal outlook on it is if someone is willing to screw you over (business life) then what makes you think he aint gonna screw you over on anything else (personal life)?

and i don't know about you but if someone trying to make a living off what they love, motorcycles, then YES business is also your personal life.

The way he does business reflects on who he is as a person.
