Some Good News
Re: Some Good News
thanks guys.....this will definately help, i was in a big hurry to get back on my bike last weekend because of jason britton and superbikes coming to town to focus on ice riding.........reality set in for me about a week before they came, i tried to just sit on my bike and i'm going to give you all a little medical lesson about scar tissue.....(i had no idea about this before my accident)
my femur came out of my leg when it snapped in two....they drove a metal rod the entire length of my femur and put 3 screws in to hold it in......the docs say i can put weight on it only a few days after this procedure.....that's cool....HOWEVER.....the scar tissue that built up from the bone ripping through my thigh is not allowing my muscle to slide on my femur, thus resulting in my knee locking up at about 90 degrees of motion.....
i hate to ramble, but i'm pretty proud of this.....so here goes....
about a month ago i had a "manipulation" done on my knee, basically, they give you an epidural and knock you out and bend your knee as far as it will go till it "cracks"---keep in mind they don't have much for leverage cause i was cut off about 5 inches below my knee.....the days after that hurt like hell, i'm not gonna lie......the furthest they got was 80 degrees.......i've hit 103 degrees last week, now that i understand how important it is to bend my knee(in order to ride again) i work on it every day......INCREDIBLE pain, some of you know this....i talked to dan jackson about this because he went through the same deal a few years back......the support i've had is really cool guys....seriously, i would never imagined that this sport that i'm involved in would help me out this much....i honestly have only one thing driving me through this ****-----the goal of competeting again.....and it's kinda retarded, cause i don't really care how i finish, it's just the opportunity to hang out with everybody and ride........it's not about the money, fame or other bullshit......that's being serious too.

Re: Some Good News
Not to take ANYTHING away from Ryan... much respect... you're class act and a role model... always have been even b4 the accident.
But there's this guy from NH, Eddie... he's a member on here, not sure of his exact screen name... Elopez i think?
Anyway.... he lost his foot as well.... went through HELL... and has pulled through it all, gotten back on the bike, and is a progressing rider once again.
I've heard he's actually better now than he was b4 the accident! :YEAH
Just wanted to throw that out there for 2 reasons:
1. as encouragement for Ryan... knowing that anything is possible w/ proper mindset/determination (which I don't need to tell you, you already know this)... and that other's have been there as well and have pulled it off w/ success.
2. To give due props to Eddie... he's gone through some serious hellacious **** as well (ie: surgury's gone bad/infection and rehab).... and it seems that he's forgotten about most of the time.
I met him once last summer at a small stunt show in MA(foxy benefit), and to see the physical pain and discomfort he was in... and now he's back on the bike MAKIN PROGRESS:YEAH That **** is crazy!!
I couldn't imagine how either of you guys did it and are doing it... I honestly don't know if I could if it were me.
