Si Cage:

just got a new one to replace my smashed up fi cage.

looks nice but must say

what a pain in the *** to put on.. ************

i'll get it on. with no instructions. if i cant get this thing lined up on the bottom im welding flat bar on it..

oh yea. funy ****.. ordered the white powder coasted cage for my gsxr.. and i ordered a black powdercoated F4i SubCage..

came in white like my gsxr cage

so the gsxr cage isnt lining up right, my all dark color f4i now has a bright white subcage..

if i had a dog id have to consider his *** run over by a car.

well heres a optimistic view.. my f4i is all dark green, plastics green- i guess i can powder coat the rims on it white to match the cage and subcage..

my gsxr is dark green with white rims and white cage.. gonna paint the steel subframe cage white anyways

so end the end.. i guess now i have to powder coat the f4i rims..

But I still cant get this cage to line uP !!

I was talking to someone today and they said I can't paint something a different color if its powder coated??

He also said it would be hard and a pain in the *** to strip..

True / False?

Re: Si Cage:

I how how it goes on.. It just didnt look right not just bolting on..

It took literaly both my arms, my body, leaning my bike over and my ****** toes to get this thing on.. I should of posted a vid but i dont got anyone to film this lol..

I got it on.. but the bars that connect on the botom front of the bike.. Even tho bolted together.. DONT FIT.. I mean its ovious one of the bars was welded off balance.. and getting this ****** together was a freakn doozie..

i was considering welding a flat bar on the bars that are supposed to connect.. but i got it on.. - Getting the Bolt thru the hole of the other one took like 10 minutes..

than lining up the left side of the cage on the engine mount bolt was hard.. it was 5 inchs away from where the bolt was supposed to go.. it was all leaning and rubbet malloting in- took all of my body strength Forcing that ****** in there.. First of all the bolt didnt go directly in. more like at a angle.. then i jumped on the cage after i had two thread's torqued and nearly broke the bolt in half with force

But it's on . and I don't think it will ever come off.. **** that ima weld the botom bars together- its not coming off.. well if it does.. it wont be going back on !

Re: Si Cage:

i also had problems with lining up, and had to make new thread in the left side so the bolt could get in...but other than that the cage was rock solid until the last meeting with ground...=)

Re: Si Cage:

even if it takes you longer to put the si on, trust me its worth it in the long run. the si is by far the best cage out there!

Re: Si Cage:

you know ur not supposed to tighten the engine mounts bolts tight than expect to get two sides to meet up perfectly.... you gotta turn them in a little at a time. i too had a little trouble but figured it out, was my first cage install

Re: Si Cage:

Dude your gsxr is probably tweaked..the bottom tube can't be " off balance" it's layed out on a jig not held out and eyed up for straightness.

Try doing the bottom first (loosely) and go from there.
