How to make a nice Dent?

I heard you could use a blow torch to heat up the tank which will make it easier to dent it with a rubber mallet. is this true? Is there any other ways of doing this i dented mine pretty good i just gota sand the whole tank down and powercoat it.

Re: How to make a nice Dent?

Open the tank and drop a lit match inside. The heat makes the tank dent iteself.

this is great, i can't believe i'm gonna be the first to respond to this. so here goes- do not use a blow torch on your gas tank unless you want to blow yourself up or catch yourself on fire. think man, think.

Re: How to make a nice Dent?

no you cant. you might be thinking of useing a heat gun on plastic tank covers. try using the search before asking questions like this to avoid being raked over the coals

Put 2 ounces of gas back in. Light it on fire (i know it sounds crazy) and then close the cap after it is on fire. It will cause the vaccum that forms all the custom dents the pros have.

Re: How to make a nice Dent?

anytime i ever dented a tank it was a catastrophy. and i took my time too. the tank was cold as **** so i cant imagine why a hair dryer or a heat gun wouldnt make the metal more bendable and prevent it from splitting.
