Just crashed
Just crashed
Out working on learning tank sreaders, 1st gear clucthing up from 3-5 mph. Doing some danglers trying to get it higher, going good. Start getting it up then spreading the legs maybe around 10 oclock so winding it out. Feeling good, pop it up spread em riding it out up to maybe around 30 mph, set it down to fast(chopped throttle) next I start rolling up and over the bars off the right side, bounce off my left hip, put my helmet into the ground, slammed my foot or ran it over don't really know. Some tourist behind me is stopped, looks at me and drives away, didn't even wave. Think I learned how much braking power the engine has, especially when geared, and painful lesson on throttle control. Any tips or is this just part of learning, I rather crash going 10mph. Sorry no vid of this one.
Re: Just crashed
I practice idle and can ride it now pretty good, next from your list is NTH I think FIS will make that possible cause staggered I seem to be pulling on the bars even to belly up against the tank. Where on the list does spreaders go?
Re: Just crashed
once you learn bp and throttle control.. which is before idle.
Re: Just crashed
Everything seems fine rode it home, gonna be sore for sure, the bike seems like a tank, me and it ended up laying in the bikepath, think I landed on some of the grass in between. Won't crash if you don't try anything new. Hell I was thinking of special k's this morning, glad it remained only a thought.
Re: Just crashed
That right there is your problem. You can't chase balance point during tank tricks. You're lucky that you're alright. Use the low to mid end of the power band.
Also, anyone learning spreaders needs to learn the emergency tuck back to SS.. when done it will take less than half a second to swing back and pull the bike back, give some gangster lean and get that wheelie back under control.

Re: Just crashed
Usually let it down softly with throttle, but that usually at slower speeds and stag. which i'm use to. Just squided out, closing the throttle to much at a high rpm. Always learning.

Re: Just crashed
Glad it was nothin serious, bro. It wasn't "stupid", as Mike said......it was a lesson to learn from. Never want to "chop" throttle from a tank wheelie, as you found out. Glad nothing's broken.........get back out there, bro.
Re: Just crashed
ya if u think ur gonna hit rev-limiter, don't close the throttle. depending on how high u are on the wheelie, u can still bring it down sorta smooth at rev-limiter.
but ya, like crtch said, learn bp, brake, and throttle control first. then u can learn SS, highchairs, spreaders..etc..etc
once u have get bp on regular staggered wheelies, everything else (aside sitdowns) are pretty self explanatory.
sucks about ur wreck, it's good that u at least learn'ed sumtin from it. (don't try spreaders again until have bp down)
