Liter bikes & Insurance in VT
Hey,
Just wondering what everyone pays for insurance for their bikes & what company they go through. I just got a 2000 R1. I have 2 tickets on my record (3 pts on my license), 2 claimed accidents (hit & run, not my fault), and I have full coverage with $1000 deductables because I have a loan on the bike. I am paying $1626 for the year through Progressive. Is this outrageous or what? That's including a 10 percent multi-policy discount because of my car.
My old bike was a 2000 YZF600R and it was $775 for the year just for liability and fire/theft/vandalism. If it was up to me, I would stay with that but I need full coverage b/c of the loan. ****!
Oh, I'm 23, so I don't have the 25+ discount yet.

Thats the reason I didn't have theft on Jens 929 and look what happened to that-------at least make sure to lock that thing up with a good chain and disk lock, accidents can be fixed, stolen bikes are just gone

My TLR is running about the same for full coverage I think, but I have a clean record...knock on wood.
I was looking at a brand new R1 last year and I think they quoted me $2300 +/- for full coverage.
It doesn't matter who you deal with, every insurance company is after your money! The bastards.

How do you like that R1? I think it's f*ckin' awesome, and mines only a 2000 and still carburated. I don't stunt or anything so I don't know how it performs in that regard, but I'm sure it could wheelie like nothing. I guess the new fuel injection on the '02-'03 R1 is silky smooth. What color did u get?
On a side note, I look like an idiot when I'm riding around town (the Burlington area) and see other bikers and I wave, and they pop wheelies. It's pathetic.
I'm 17, have 5 points, and 1 accident that was the other driver's fault. I've got an '01 R6 and I don't even dare to look at insurance. It's gonna be crazy expensive. But then again so would all the other things I need... inspection, registration, a non-dirt bike helmet, mirrors, speedometer... So I just figure I can't afford to stop when I see the blues.
