I used JCMotors for a bike and it was only like 450 and they were quick, might want to check them out, jcmotors.com ....super fast over the phone quotes anyways...

That was for a new bike fully insured door to door, a motor I would think would be a lot less....always check local freight companies as well, fedex does freight.

UPS...Cost me $90 to Indiana...

Empty all the fluids, block off anything that could drip, either make a "light" plywood box or what I did was found a cardboard box and lined it tightly with 1/4 plywood, stuffed it with bubble wrap and done. My first attempt was with a crate that I had made, real nice and sturdy but too heavy for UPS and everyone else wanted ridiculous prices to ship. Make it as light as possible...

Re: company to ship motor through??

i used a company called freight air, or air freight.(something like that) i put the motor in a cardboard box with good packing so it wouldn't move, then straped the carboard box to a half pallet. Drove my truck up to the loading dock and they took it off my truck with a fork lift. it wasnt that heavy to begin with(motor, wiring harness,T/Bsand headers) the total for shipping w/ $900.00 insurance came out to be like $80.00 or $90 bucks. i shipped from ATL to chicago i think it was. pm if you need more info

only took them 12hrs. or so to get it where it needed to be.
