clean or dirty motor????
Re: clean or dirty motor????
I have personally seen the cops run a motor number and it came back stolen.I called the cops at my work cause I reconized the bike as friends, they had restamped the vin,the bike came back as a 92 Katana 600 (it was a 06' gsxr600) then they ran the motor # & bam.
I had always thought they couldn't, until then

Re: clean or dirty motor????
QUESTION.. is sanding the motor numbers off the same as being in possessions of an altered VIN.
my friend bought a 'raceframe' with no numbers and resold it.. 2 years later hes getting arrested because there were numbers underneath-just ground off, and the kicker is they were clean numbers, just had a lien on it. they did the acid test thing and you can see the numbers plain as day he said.
he got charged with possession of an altered vin, and obtaining money under false pretenses(selling as a raceframe not a grounded frame- even though he had no idea) he even produced a bill of sale but they couldnt track the guy down.
******* insane
haha hey turtle, im thinking of kyle, he got fucked on that deal.

And your kicker still means its a stolen frame. The frame belongs to the bank who tried to repo it which means he stole it from the bank and didn't pay them then sold it to someone else. So technically its stolen.
That's why you don't buy "race/stunt frames" off ebay unless they have a title or at least 1 VIN on it. Most of those are like that. Easy way to get screwed.
Re: clean or dirty motor????
yea, throttle body #'s are pointless.i mean, clean vins, clean motor, stolen throttle bodies....whats the chances.if i needed throttle bodies i could care less where they came from.besides, how often do you really need new throttle bodies?????
Re: clean or dirty motor????
Its worse because now you're trying to cover up a stolen motor/frame.

i just bought 2 bikes with leins, and went to DMV and declared them abandoned at my house. basically im informing the lienholders that i have the bike and for them to come get it. if they dont, i get a title. if they do, they'll come by and pick up a nice shiny frame.
